'18 GA CB Jaycee Horn

Part of it is Justin, part of it his former position coach, and now its this awful defensive scheme we run. Saturday was much better as he was allowed to play up but I saw a lot of bad habits by all the Dbs. They all take weird unexplainable angles and get out of position a lot.

Spot on

I agree man it's like OL recruiting up getting the same body types. None of the Cbs in this class are elite, and Jaycee is just ok, but has room to improve a lot. Shoop has to go NOW, then get a legit HC & DC who's worth the money we pay.

"We" huh?

In an interview, he was asked what led him to Tennessee? "Being comfortable with the coaches, definitely the coaches. They make it a family. I'm there because of them."

Where are you in your commitment? "Right now, I am 100 percent committed."

Asked why he is taking visits? "Because I wasn't recruited last year, so this is my first time seeing these places"

IOW, he's just now enjoying the process. Think he signs with TN.

Horn says he believes the Vols come out with the W this weekend.

Asked what he thinks so far this year? He says he hasn't watched any games on TV, been taking trips.

He hasn't noticeably regressed that I can tell. He was just never any good, and so he never improved to live up to the hype. Some people are just now realizing it. All the "Martin is a 1st rounder talk" was based solely on body size, potential, and fan hope.

Other than measureables, Martin has never put anything on tape that would suggest he is draftable, let alone a high round pick. And I've been saying that for two years, so that isn't just recent and rash emotional displeasure coming out.

So he was the #1 Cb in JuCo based on measurables? When he 1st got here he didn't put anything on tape? Lol cut it out CNCC clearly you are joking. He's the best option at Cb in a bad scheme that puts every single Db in bad position to take bad angles to make plays on the Wrs. At Cb you do 1 of two things play up in press or off in zone. In either instance you never allow a guy the cross your face or free release. Go back and watch the games none of this was done by any Cb including my guy Gaulden who is a Sunday foot all player. The CBS are playing outside in vs inside out using the sidelines as the 12th defender. The safeties aren't playing deep with depth and hash to sidelines. Before you make bad irrational comments about a player never showing anything go back and look it up because what you said isn't true.

LOL at you explaining schemes to me. You clearly are biased towards him, because no objective person can put on his tape and say, "Yep, that's an NFL caliber CB."

You can't hang your hat on the hustle play at Florida that still didn't matter in the end. He is constantly out of position, constantly missing tackles, and constantly taking bad angles. That isn't all attributed to a poor scheme. And Moseley is having one of his better seasons in this "bad scheme", so explain that. Martin is just another overhyped talent that some of our resident "experts" can't/won't admit they were wrong about. Kid has a million dollar body and a ten cent brain between the white lines.

But hey, I don't know Buck Fitzgerald, so what would I know?

Yeah using the UF example is actually the foundation of the issue. A positive example of Martin's play on the field involves simply turning and running really fast in a straight line. He has incredible speed. He showed tremendous determination on that play. You can't take anything away from him for that play. But that play did not involve any of the finer points on how to play CB. He is simply a long fast athlete that struggles to coorelate those physical attributes to playing CB in 11on11 football.

Exactly. 5* athlete, 2* cornerback.
