They've beaten ncsu and mizzou, that's supposed to be impressive? They have a really easy schedule this year so they might squeak out 7 wins but they don't have the depth to win anymore than that.

If looking good in September was all that mattered Kevin Sumlin would be an elite coach.

Martin is not an 1st round talent. He can't even learn the basics.

If a coach wanted to draw up how the perfect CB looks, he would draw up someone very similar to Justin Martin. The kid has it all from size, length, hip dexterity, and athleticism.

Let's hope he gets it together between the ears cause he's got everything else.

You make good points most definitely. I just don't have the confidence you do I guess. The fact that CWM has CBJ's number is telling. I hope you're right and they only win 7 games or less.

I see a lot of Jacoby Stevens in Jaycee Horn. I think he's not as good as his ranking and if he leaves us, I'm pretty confident we can do better.

I don't think we've found our stud corner in this class quite yet. Brandon Cross will be a great nickel. And I love Tanner Ingle at safety. Trey Dean and Brendon Harris are solid. But we're missing a top flight corner.

Hopefully we can find him late in the process like we did the last 2 years with Josh Palmer, Tim Jordan, and Latrell Williams. Butch and the staff have been great at identifying under the radar talent pretty late in the process.

I hear ya but Florida's 4-8 team still beat us....

CWM will come ready to play. If we beat Florida tomorrow I'll have much more confidence bc I believe their defense is better.

I apologize for calling Martin dumb as a brick, as I have stated already, I was talking about football intelligence, I do not apologize for calling him a horrid football player, to this point he has been a complete disaster at CB as a Vol. I sincerely hope he turns it completely around today, and plays up to the potential that the coaches, and our resident VN talent evaluators obviously see in him. If he does I will applaud him.

I have seen Martin appear indecisive in situations which he clearly should know what to do, without waiting until it was just too late. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my take on his game.

He should be much more aggressive and arriving in a bad mood. Off coverage and you give up the catch that's fine. Blame it on the scheme but he's not even bringing the WRs down. Make the tackle on the spot....

This isn't directed at Horn. But I saw a reference to a CB committed that says he would make a great nickel. I really wish we would stop recruiting Nickel CBs. Recruit the best CBs you can find and the non-starters will compete for the nickel spot.

player.

He hasn't noticeably regressed that I can tell. He was just never any good, and so he never improved to live up to the hype. Some people are just now realizing it. All the "Martin is a 1st rounder talk" was based solely on body size, potential, and fan hope.

Other than measureables, Martin has never put anything on tape that would suggest he is draftable, let alone a high round pick. And I've been saying that for two years, so that isn't just recent and rash emotional displeasure coming out.

I agree man it's like OL recruiting up getting the same body types. None of the Cbs in this class are elite, and Jaycee is just ok, but has room to improve a lot. Shoop has to go NOW, then get a legit HC & DC who's worth the money we pay.

Part of it is Justin, part of it his former position coach, and now its this awful defensive scheme we run. Saturday was much better as he was allowed to play up but I saw a lot of bad habits by all the Dbs. They all take weird unexplainable angles and get out of position a lot.
