He is obviously talented and has speed, my issue is the coaching staff decided to move him to offense, put him in the slot, and then barely used him. He had a few big gains and drawed up plays, but we could have used his production more on defense. Our coaching staff has really under utilized a lot of our talent these past few seasons, that has got to change. We have got to start getting our playmakers the ball more and putting our boys in the best position to succeed. The team should be molded to fit our players' strengths while forming their own identity. Obviously we will have a common scheme, but our team should not be forced to play a system that does not work with our roster. We have to adapt to what we have and play to our strengths.
It also makes me wonder if we are taking away Byrd's true ability to shine and reach his full potential at Tennessee. I know he's an ATH, but he was highly regarded as a CB, and we have him playing slot WR. I think they should attempt to play him both ways at least, or let him pick where he wants to be on the field. I would at least like to see what he is capable of at CB.
