'18 GA QB Emory Jones (Ohio State commit)

247 mostly but others as well. Bama broke the Bama visit and the rest including the Tn visit came from Buckeye sites.

Thanks. I remember the VQ guys always said, even after his OSU commit this one wouldn't be over because the family wanted him closer to home. Will be interesting to see how the staff handles this one.

Other thoughts are that our pursuit of him "cost us" TL. Always depending on which "narrative" we choose. :)

I tend to believe our offensive scheme, average on-field results, and the overwhelming idea that Butch may not be long for the job cost us TL.

In any case, it is clear this staff can identify QB talent. As long as they land a guy that can buy in and do what they want, I'm all for it.

Not an issue IMO, if he wants to visit let him and if he ends up wanting to commit no question about it he's a take. Then let everything else play out.

Didn't know you're a preacher. What we're your thoughts on the sacrifice of his daughter?

I feel his "vow" was due to his development after he was exiled by his brothers. Something paganistic. Learned while with the band of men. He said "whatever COMES OUT OF MY HOUSE TO MEET ME" that he'll sacrifice. Knowing full well that whoever comes out the door would be human because a dog would be considered unclean for sacrifice. Bullocks rams and other things proper for sacrifice wouldn't come out to meet him. He just didn't plan for it to be his daughter. It's a case of being careful of what you promise God. Remember he wasn't a man of God. Even though he was a Jew by birth, he wasn't brought up in the Tabernacle, but on the outskirts of the Jewish tribes and among gentiles who may have thought human sacrifice was ok.

I agree completely. I think it is further evidence of the Canaanization of Israel that is taking place throughout the book of Judges. Good work

If Emory wants in they'll cut Penix. Hopefully Martinez will be okay with Jones, he knows we're taking two QBs

Would be fitting if Martinez flipped to OSU, and Jones flipped to UT, then 247 bumped to a 5 star and downgraded to a 4 star, respectively.

Hmmmm really worried about Martinez not liking the fact that Emory is visiting.

I'd tell Martinez that if he shuts it down and doesn't take any more visits, especially to USC, we'll shut it down and won't let any QB's other than Penix visit. But as long as you are going on visits, we're going to be hosting visits.

Want both Jones and Martinez if Jones wants in. Martinez is a great QB. Wonder why Jones wasn't invited to the opening

or you could explain it as this was all Emory, we are going to show him a good time but we aren't pursuing him. Southern hospitality and it being impossible for someone to not have a good time while visiting UT. doesn't mean anything for our guys, just that our staff is good people.

It's rare to get 2 top QBs. Plus, being in the same class and assuming they wouldn't beat out Dormady and/or Guarantano, it's a transfer waiting to happen.

VN loves to debate the, "I'm dating an 8 seriously, but this 9.5 across the room keeps making eye contact with me" scenario

Anybody that tells Urban to stick it for any reason is cool in my book. I don't think EJ is coming here, but it would be sweet if for no other reason because he told Urban to stick it.

Jones camped at Alabama on Sunday as rumors persist that his family wants him to play closer to home. He has visited Alabama and others without it being public, the Bama visit got leaked.

Jones will visit Tennessee on Thursday on his way up to OSU for their FNL cookout.

A Thursday drop-by visit doesn't sound like something that should or would concern either of our current commits. I'm far more worried about Jones winding up at Alabama than anything else.

We just need to be careful here. Emory is a talent you don't pass up on but I would really hate to lose Adrian for anyone or any reason.

I'm sure the staff thinks the same way and are doing the right things.
