'18 GA QB Justin Fields

Well, I just read through last year's posts in the Penix thread up until December, and every single post comparing Penix to Fields preferred Fields...

But that's none of my business

But it is YOUR business. Based my posts on that very thread...NO MENTION of Fields until Aug 30 when THIS joker piped in:
Prefer Justin Fields but maybe the coaches don't?
Back to this thread and your thoughts on him and his offer list:
Interesting. They have him above the Pennix kid from Florida.

Based on his offer list, the Vols are certainly ahead of the curve on this one.

And we still haven't reached the year mark on THIS thread. This kid shot up after Lawrence and Jones started fading for us. Less than a year ago, he was a slightly elevated McBride prospect. Now he's this force of nature that we have to tread lightly around and hope not to offend.

But that's none of my business.

They play 11 and we play 11. Beat them with your 11. we will have four four star QB"s. That shows potential and talent but not guarantee results. I am not a big fan of Eason though highly rated. Georgia has always had talent. Tennessee has always been able to compete with them. Even in our lowest times. Go be a puss somewhere else.

Nobody was being a "puss" lol. I just like to see Georgia struggle, especially when it comes to recruiting. I know we will always have enough to beat them regardless.

One of the reasons to not go nuts about recruiting is because no matter what you do, the other guy is going to get theirs too.

Then, it's about which coaches develop their guys.

But, we're all in the SEC here. There are, what, 7 or 8 schools in the top 15 of recruiting rankings every year.

I know it may be a minority opinion here, but Alabama wins not because they have the #1 class....it's because they take the guys they sign and develop them so that they are as damn good as their recruiting rankings said they'd be.

The depth too. Their second and third string is on par or better with the rest of the country's starting 22

They're the flagship school of a talent rich state. Wishing them bad classes isn't reality.

Also, there's the fact that they sign #1 classes. Success follows recruiting rankings. That's a lot easier to quantify than some anecdotal evidence about coaching them up.

They already have the #1 running back and are about to get the #1 QB. Not good at all for us

I've seen both Fields and Lawrence play and he is no where near the level Trevor Lawrence is. He is really, really good however.

He probably isn't even the best QB in Cobb County though. Harrison Bailey is already a better passer and he will be just a SO. Probably the #1 player in the country for 2020.

People now are saying that Fields might be the best QB to come out of HS football .

FSU would make more sense for him with Francois being eligible to go pro after this year. If he did go to UgA then oh well can only play one the 5 star QBs at a time. If Eason holds job for 2 more year whoever loses battle for job will transfer. If Eason loses job at any point he transfers as does the other loser. It's just the QB way now

I agree with all of this... Except the Bama reference. Its one thing to stockpile talent with 3, 4, 5 top 10 or 15 classes in a row.... That will get you competitive for sure.

But when it's 1 1 1 1... You get the idea.... Its a separating factor depth wise most definitely.... That's the difference. Sure they develop, but they start on a shorter curve, and those that don't, they have time because of what's in front of them....

And to put one more thing to bed.... as of right now, Miami, FSU and Florida are in the top 10 of rivals rankings.

Further proof that there is just too much talent out there that you can't prevent the other up from getting theirs.

We never said they wouldn't get talent just that we don't want them to get talent

Agree. All you can hope for is that you land the guys you want.... Knowing you're not gunna get them all...
