One of the reasons to not go nuts about recruiting is because no matter what you do, the other guy is going to get theirs too.

Then, it's about which coaches develop their guys.

But, we're all in the SEC here. There are, what, 7 or 8 schools in the top 15 of recruiting rankings every year.

I know it may be a minority opinion here, but Alabama wins not because they have the #1 class....it's because they take the guys they sign and develop them so that they are as damn good as their recruiting rankings said they'd be.

Agree somewhat, I will say the more talent you assemble on NSD, the greater your margin for error for both coaching mistakes and evaluation mistakes.

Well it's a public forum so it's everyone's business if we're gonna get technical and pull our sleeves up :)

So you think we're celebrities? :w00t: What a goober! Is that why you do this clown act and pretend you're getting into our heads? Go onto a page and get all the numbers broken down for you? All the people involved in your kick ass life allow you the colossal waste of time. People on here are Vols fans. Some will pop off an opinion once in a blue moon...some like to interact with other Vol fans on a board where the different senses of humor are fun. You know? Fun? Ever do that while you're dominating...and looking up other posters stats?

I agree with all of this... Except the Bama reference. Its one thing to stockpile talent with 3, 4, 5 top 10 or 15 classes in a row.... That will get you competitive for sure.

But when it's 1 1 1 1... You get the idea.... Its a separating factor depth wise most definitely.... That's the difference. Sure they develop, but they start on a shorter curve, and those that don't, they have time because of what's in front of them....

Saban will send a 5 star to Alabama State in a heartbeat if the kid isn't living up to expectations on the field. By clearing out the dead wood and replacing them with prospects, he has about 70 kids on his roster at all times that are ready to compete at a high level.

They already have the #1 running back and are about to get the #1 QB. Not good at all for us

You do know that just cause a guy is ranked #1 doesn't mean he's the best. Adrian Martinez's tape is just as impressive as Fields. I don't know why you are whining. We have our own elite QB.

I personally like the fact all the top players wanna play in the SEC. I'm not afraid of competing against Georgia or anybody else.

Stop being afraid of COMPETITION.

Eh, There's separation between Alabama and Ohio State and everyone else when it comes to recruiting. Clemson and FSU are on the next tier. Then you have a group of teams including Florida and Tennessee were there's not a lot of difference. I do agree player development is the most important component of a healthy program. But starting out with a slew of 5 stars like Bama has does make a difference

Why would you go to GA, they have 2 ELITE talents at quarterback,a Sophmore and a Freshman so playing time would be harder to achieve. If I was him (not a die hard Vol fan) i would go to LSU or Auburn with little to no competition espcially since Stidham ia a 2 yead player at most.

Of his finalists, Auburn or FSU offer a more favorable depth chart plus a track record of developing and utilizing a DT quarterback.

FSU would make more sense for him with Francois being eligible to go pro after this year. If he did go to UgA then oh well can only play one the 5 star QBs at a time. If Eason holds job for 2 more year whoever loses battle for job will transfer. If Eason loses job at any point he transfers as does the other loser. It's just the QB way now

I personally expect Eason to get beat out at some point this season.

His mother desperately wants him at UGA. She's been practically begging for him to go there on her twitter since they offered. That's where he'll end up.

That line if thinking is fine if we had a track record of previous success going up against those teams, but we don't. Currently we are not a Top 5 SEC football program. It's like TN fans who want us to continue to be at a competitive disadvantage from the get go in our own division by having Bama as our permanent crossover instead of doing away with it so every school is on an even playing field schedule wise in the league.

Good for the kid and Georgia. I like UTs 2 QBs, Penix and Martinez. Like one the Gators said, there is plenty of talent for almost all the SEC teams. We already got ours and I expected Georgia to get theirs, so it's no surprise to me. UT will be fine. Penix upside may be higher than all the 4/5 star kids and if Martinez had been camping all summer, he might have been a 5 star by now. These recruiting sites put way too much stock into these camps. Like I said, UT is in great shape with their QBs this recruiting cycle

MH, I quoted u, but this post is for all the " oh no, Georgia is getting 5 star Fields" posters, not u

Yeah I like Martinez a lot more than his current rating. I think he's a legit Top 10 QB in this class. I really like his overall skill set.
