'18 GA QB Justin Fields

I don’t know if Fields is overrated or lives up to the by hype. Bottom line, no way Fromm gets replaced. Someone will score a top QB prospect because UGA is set at the position for 2 more years. Today’s landscape doesn’t allow for a team to have a franchise starter and a highly rated backup for more than a year

Idt ole boy (eason) was 5* caliber coming out of high school. Plenty of people questioned him and the competition he was playing out west. I've watched one of his games, competition looked REAL bad. He didn't seem to have a lot of intangibles to be good enough in athens and the sec. Idk if it was lack of coaching or him just not being good (I think the latter). Fields is TBD, he hasn't played enough to have make any judgement. Kirby screwed up that whole situation with Fields (recruitung pitch, schematics, situational playcalling for him, etc..)
Eason was #5 when he came out. He was going to be Richts saving grace apparently. The kid to take them to the promised land, dont bother to play the games just give UGA the ring. It was ridiculous down here in Georgia hearing people talk about him.

Current Bama situation notwithstanding.

Fields needs to be smart and do like Hurts if he can get his ego out of the way. He's not all that until he is all that. Fromm is an excellent QB. But if Fields wants to leave and go outside the SEC - yes, please.

Do like Hurts? You mean play his last season before graduating while learning from the best staff in college and then transfer out without having to sit out a year, all the while garnering the highest praise from the media for allegedly being “selfless”, but really just making the common sense decision?

Yeah....Fields would have to wait about 3 years for that. Transferring now and sitting out lets him play in 1 year. Hurts was going to have to sit a year regardless, staying at Bama let him practice and get cleanup duty (and win an SEC championship as chance would have it) then he can transfer next year and play immediately.

The two situations are light years away from each other.

He played to the detriment of the offense/team this year. Fromm should’ve not missed even one significant snap this past year, and everybody who paid attention knows it. Doubt it hurts his recruiting, but it did make Kirby look like a guy willing to be dishonest/say anything to a recruit to get him to commit.

Whether he should have played or not, the fact is he played. That’s all I was getting at. Richt did the same with Shockley, and it probably cost them a chance at a national title.

Could you explain why you think that he would not tranafer to somewhere else to have the chance to start?
I don’t think it’s his priority. With the new redshirt rules, he could’ve had two seasons of eligibility AND still been available to back Tua up. Saban put him in enough meaningless games to negate his redshirt and there was no blowback from Hurts or his very vocal father. Solid, level headed young man knows any opportunities football wise at the next level isn’t going to be at the QB position. I see him staying and working in other packages using his athleticism on the biggest stage for scouts to observe.

Ohio state feels like fields to them is essentially a done deal. Not sure how accurate that is, but with Dwan Mathis flipping to UGA, it does seem pretty likely. FSU is supposedly second with OU, but I think he’d get killed behind their turnstile of an o line.

if I'm a QB, theres no way in hell I'd touch fsu.

Unless you are Alabama and use the dark side of the force to control players..Saban is Palpatine..

Yeah except the staff is 10 times better, the OL recruitment is top notch and our head coach isnt on the hot seat with the fanbase and most importantly boosters.

But they have Briles. Much better for a QB. Youre going to lead a great offense guaranteed

Will mean the airraid has finally filtered up to a 2nd big time program. Ok and fsu

Briles isn't air raid. Veer and shoot leans on the run. But Briles is pretty balanced typically 52/48 run. Think closer to 58/42 at FAU. Killed it at FAU running the ball...like 6 ypc for the team. But vertical spread really can lead to nice passing stats too. Seth Russell at Baylor and D'eriq King at Houston put up big stats. Not sure who was at fau, but they scored lot of points too.
