'18 GA QB Justin Fields

Briles isn't air raid. Veer and shoot leans on the run. But Briles is pretty balanced typically 52/48 run. Think closer to 58/42 at FAU. Killed it at FAU running the ball...like 6 ypc for the team. But vertical spread really can lead to nice passing stats too. Seth Russell at Baylor and D'eriq King at Houston put up big stats. Not sure who was at fau, but they scored lot of points too.
It’s definitely air raid that incorporates its one shortcoming, not a lot of runs, hence the veer, they teach and follow the same practice routines developed by mumme and leach, and use those wide splits to run more than most air raid teams

I see. Thanks for info. I think of air raid as texas tech and leach and chucking it 75% of the time. Similar concepts is true, especially the ol splits.

Holgerson was first to try incorporating more runs with the pistol. But Briles went next level using outside zone with the qb rather than usual inside zone. And disguising run fits that defenders use to key. Massively successful once to the tune of 645 yards in one game... good god almighty

What's the depth look like at those schools? I haven't followed anyone but sec schools this year really. Idk about the other schools but I would say that UT would give him an immediate opportunity to start probably and it would be closer to home if that is a factor at all.

Depth at both schools isn’t extremely deep. Murray should take the money and run to MLB and word is Haskins will one of the top 3 qb’s taken in the 2019 NFL draft so I would expect him to bolt. With that said neither school has a proven back up. As for the possibility of Fields in orange and white I don’t see GA giving him a release to any team in the SEC but particularly any team in the SEC east. Can someone verify transfer rules for a true freshmen??

Oklahoma still has a highly rated freshman coming in this year. I can't imagine any school having as good a situation as far as starting as Tennessee right now. JG is at best mediocre

100% agree. JG has the heart but lacks the it factor. Throws the ball well but doesn’t appear to be able to read defenses and has shown no pocket presence. Was hoping that he would be a true dual threat but not so. Tough as nails

Millionth time? Your finger has to be tired. A better answer would’ve been “per my post on ..... the NCAA charged the rule this year” Love a good smartass..

I love people who can't keep up and steady drag on over discussed conversations b/c they cant go back a few pages to see what was previously discussed.

P.S... it wasn't just my post, there were numerous posters who mentioned and sited the new rule a million times... #NoHardFeelings ;)

Georgia freshman quarterback Justin Fields intends to transfer, setting off what could be one of the most competitive recruitments for a transfer quarterback in recent memory. Fields is that talented. Fields and his family are expected to consult with attorney Thomas Mars, who helped a number of Ole Miss players, including Michigan QB Shea Patterson, transfer schools without being forced to sit out a year. If that happens, Fields could be able to play next season without being penalized. Fields would be No. 1 if he was a 2019 prospect and the same can be said about
JT Daniels, who was originally supposed to be a 2019. Why? The quarterback position is so important.
Fields hasn’t lived up to his potential yet because Fromm is so good, but in the right situation he could be a star. I love Stingley Jr. and think he’s as rare as you get at the cornerback position, but there is little doubt that Fields would be No. 1 almost any year that Lawrence wasn’t coming out. I am very interested to see where he lands and how well he does as a transfer because I think he could be like
Kyler Murray and put up crazy numbers and push for a Heisman if he makes the right choice.

Anyone know if we are actively pursuing Fields? I am curious. It’s hard to not want him on your team. Kid is going to be a great QB wherever he goes.

Fields is and will be good but he is no Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence is the best college true freshman QB I have ever saw before in my 40+ years of watching college football. He makes throws that normally a freshman QB doesn't make. If Lawrence came out this year, he would be the first pick in the NFL draft. He has it all and a damn shame he wanted to be a Vol

I hate Butch more with each day that passes.

It was exceedingly difficult watching Lawrence and Higgins yesterday and thinking about what could’ve been.
