'18 GA QB Justin Fields

Yo I'm a Titans fan and I'd be willing to take a chance on this kid (albeit a 2nd to late 1st).. Can't be much worse then seeing Mariota hurt for portions of the season.. Everyone has drilled his stature as to why he has no chance but the production certainly is there.. and it's not a bad thing seeing a QB with baseball ties.. Ken Stabler was drafted 3 times in baseball as was TB12..
You'd take a QB in late 1st, who is that small, because Marcus can't stay healthy?

This is going to interesting. If he get to play next season, all bets are off with transfers from here on out. I don’t see any way he has a leg to stand on with this......but you never know what the NCAA will do.

There is a lot of inane chatter in here. It is this simple: if Fields wants to come to Tennessee, Tennessee should, and will, take him. He is very good. He also may he immediately eligible because of the racist treatment from a fellow athlete at UGA. If he’s eligible immediately, he will be a true sophomore this year, which means Harrison Bailey would be a true freshman when Fields is a true junior (read as draft eligible). Alternatively, Bailey would be a true freshman when Fields is a redshirt sophomore (read as draft eligible). In either event, that is ideal spacing between two elite QBs as opposed to the single class difference between Fields and Jake Fromm. While I think his commitment sticks, nothing guarantees Bailey enrolls at UT despite his verbal commitment and there is also no guarantee that he lives up to his billing whereas there has been at least some evidence that Fields will live up to his billing. And, I am a supporter of Guarantano. I think he played well under the circumstances (read as porous OL and WRs who did not create a lot of separation), but there are legit criticisms about his play (read as he did a poor job recognizing pressures and coverage and helping his OL help him). So, there’s no guarantee Fields would beat out Guarantano. Still, this is big boy football and you always land a player like Fields if you can and figure out the problems later.

Preferrably with the second but if you commit to that plan, you could very well move Mariota for a couple early picks but that would be a hell of a gamble.. I'm just frustrated because if healthy all season we could be easily a 10+ win team

Paragraphs help the reader.

Oh, I get it; I'm very frustrated as well when it comes to Marcus being hurt all the time. I just don't think someone of Murray's size, with his game, is the answer. Remember, Marcus was every bit as dynamic as Murray in college, and it hasn't translated very well into the pros, even when he's been healthy.

Wait, what.......the Doctor of Orange hasn’t been around in a while......did I miss something??

You must’ve watched a different team this season.
No I watched the same team and every minute of it. I did not turn the tv off in some of the games, which you probably did. You cannot throw the ball with defenders coming at you w/o being at least slowed some. We have a qb in waiting that may be as good or better and one coming in and there is no certainty that Fields can do much better if the o-line does not improve much.

What happened to Fields needing Smart's approval to transfer in-conference? If that is true then there is no way he's coming here.

So is there any real validity to us being an option or is this more just a discussion of where he will end up? Has there ever been any official confirmation he's interested in coming here?

Dumb why? BC he would almost be guaranteed to start immediately?

He could go and play on a contender right away and potentially ride the bench or he can come in work his ass off and make Tennessee a contender.
Cause those offenses are powerhouses and we currently have none lol, he can get to the NFL at either without having his ass kicked each week

I think it's the whole point of the mysterious transfer portal
“The NCAA has approved a massive change to transfer rules as student-athletes will no longer be required to gain permission to contact schools once they decide to leave their current institution, essentially ending the practice of blocking transfers by schools. The policy will not go into effect until Oct. 15”

Fields doesnt seem like the type that wants to earn it or bring a team up.

Also it's kinda crazy how good Fromm is. He has made two 5* QBs transfer out

Idt ole boy (eason) was 5* caliber coming out of high school. Plenty of people questioned him and the competition he was playing out west. I've watched one of his games, competition looked REAL bad. He didn't seem to have a lot of intangibles to be good enough in athens and the sec. Idk if it was lack of coaching or him just not being good (I think the latter). Fields is TBD, he hasn't played enough to have make any judgement. Kirby screwed up that whole situation with Fields (recruitung pitch, schematics, situational playcalling for him, etc..)
