Dobbs passing isn't the problem. Letting him pass it is. Dobbs is a much better thrower than he was last year. When given the chance he makes some very nice throws downfield. They just won't call it.

Oline is the main problem. Mahoney even acknowledged it at the Knox QB club yesterday. He said Dobbs can throw it and the WRs can get open but it starts up front with my guys protecting. Kendrick has a tough time pass protecting at RT when having to choose between multiple defenders.
The staff doesn't trust this Oline enough to let it rip too many times.

The other problem is now that you know your Oline is the problem you need to change your route tree to quicker routes. Unfortunately Butch will not change it or hasn't yet at least

He threw nice passes the whole game. He missed Josh Smith down the sideline once but no quarterback is perfect. The one he threw VP for a TD (that was called back) was on the money. The other one he threw to VP hit him squarely in the hands and was dropped. I don't know where this Dobbs can't throw is coming from. He was accurate last year. Is this coming from the staff through the media?

1st I agree he threw some good balls, but the pass to VP was short and not on the money. Its hard to be on the money when your constantly pressured because the OL is getting manhandled

We need to give guys like VP more chances like that on 50/50 balls. Let them make a play. VP has shown he can make a play on a ball in the air. Just let him do it.

Your definition of accurate must be very different than most. No one has ever accused Dobbs of being "accurate". 90% of the time he throws screen passes into the ground. Past 10 yds he is terrible.

I would say 10-25 yards he is average to above average. The deep ball is another story. He is below average with that throw still.

LOL. We haven't thrown the ball enough to make a judgment. The screen passes he throws in the ground are because the defenses had blown them up before they started and he's trying to avoid negative plays and turnovers. A lot of this is because of play calls. 90% of all our play calls are within 5 yards of the LOS. Defenses key on all the short stuff and we can't be them over the top to punish them. Now the reason for that is debatable. Is it because Dobbs can't throw it? Is it because he doesn't have time? Is it the scheme? Debate that all you want but I can name on one hand the number of times we've allowed Dobbs to throw the ball downfield this whole season. Whether you are a Josh Dobbs fan or not we haven't seen enough to make an informed decision.

The truth is within this post

Critics have forgot he was Elite 11.

No offence, but some of you are very confident about this guy and he is a 2018 recruit. I will be a lot more confident if he actually commits and we start winning big games.

Nah, the kid is tight with Butch and the staff. The only way I can see this kid going somewhere else if Butch somehow gets fired.

I mean anything can happen but the scales are tipped pretty heavy in our favor.

The kid and his family are originally from TN. Lifelong fans of the program. Lawrence and his family have a pretty good relationship with the coaching staff already. He has had multiple visits already as well. It's hard not to like our chances.
