After seeing HJ, I'd have to agree. Not saying HJ is terrible. But he doesn't look SPECIAL. I think this kid can be special. Same with JG.

I think after Dobbs, it'll be Guarantano that takes over. Then after that it'll be Lawrence.

Without even one collegiate practice for either kid? Wow! Glad you're not our coach.

We all thought Justin Worley was a fantastic QB in high school too. :)

He was indeed fantastic in high school.... College not so much...

j/k, I know what you mean... Gotta be careful how much stock to put into stats, especially when the QB is in a spread offense

Hjs team is just crap that kid is crazy talented. This is an example why coaches put zero interest into high school stats.

What's sad is that they've clearly improved. By 2018, I'm sure the OL situation will be much improved.

Agree. We are getting more talented Oline players now but it will take time for them to know how to handle all the various defensive looks and time to get stronger and better. I think they will be much better as the season goes on and next year when we finally get some true talented OTs involved.

Meh. You have much more faith in that than I do

I actually feel "not awful" about the O line. I just don't get why our receivers can't get open or Dobbs can't get rid of the ball faster. They routinely blitzed him and he had no clue. And for five guys blocking five guys rushing they did enough most of the time.

Please tell me you forgot the blue font on this post.

I am sure Trevor loved seeing our great OL at work last night. I bet he is just aching to commit.

Agreed. I bet an Elite QB recruit was concerned about protection and offensive scheme/play calling after that second half performance. Hint - Shotgun 100% of the time with a 240# RB ? Use your talent and get under center sometimes. Pounding it will help the passing game. Play action much more effective under center.

Better fix these issues if they want to sign either of the top QB's from the 2017/2018.

Unbelievable attendance and support from Vols fans. Too bad the offense had a massive meltdown other than Jalen Hurd - He was a bright spot.

I feel that JD had an off night against OU. Of course, this was not helped by his WR's or the play calling. Am I going to throw in the towel on Josh? No. He still has a lot to offer this team, but I do think we have much higher caliber QB's coming in that will give us more opportunities. Hopefully by then our oline will be able to block something

Dobbs is pretty much not a great downfield passer. He could develop into one but I don't see it as likely given the cast around him. An Oline that cannot hold up against pressure and WRs that cannot get off press coverage.

What most of you have to realize is that when you have insufficiencies in the trenches it is hard to over come. This OL is the main issue in offense, but they're not as big of a problem as the actual OL coach. Then you have to think if coaches know this then why not tun a 3 step hot route based offense with a lot of rub and combo routes. We still attempt 5 step drops etc. On the WR issues the entire WR core absolutely despises Azzani. They hate that dumb stance and a lot of his philosophies. People that believe Dobbs isn't a deep ball qb his highlights in the previous 2 O/W gms has been the deep ball. Stop being fooled by a poorly coached offensive tm.

Yeah I've never understood the crouch our WR's get in. I'm sure Azzanni says something about it being "an explosive position" or maybe it helps with the corners being able to get their hands in their chest to jam.

But I've literally never seen any other group of WR's do it. It's so dumb
