SA. When an opposing coach praises another school's football players, by name, it is pretty unusual, especially when they don't play them. He happens to be a VOL and hasn't missed on his evaluation of Georgia HS football players. Many Tennessee fans often question how good commits really are and why Tennessee recruited them. Maybe you would rather bash the posters rather than appreciate some positive information about recruits. If you are not interested in information, don't read it.

High school football kicked off in Georgia over the weekend, and there was plenty of talent on display at the Corky Kell Classic. It started in Macon Thursday night with two games, then seven more in Atlanta Friday and Saturday. We take a look at some of the top takeaways from this event.

Buford (Ga.) ran for 314 yards Friday night in a 41-17 win over Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove. The Wolves have a three-headed monster in the offensive backfield. Michigan commit Christian Turner led the way with 128 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. He also had arguably the biggest hit of the game while playing linebacker on defense. Tennessee commit Anthony Grant made some plays on defense, too, but at running back he rushed 10 times for 90 yards and a score.

Who’s next? Turner and Grant are seniors, then you have four-star athlete Derrian Brown in the 2019 class who had 73 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. He already has offers from Florida, Louisville, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee, among others. It is a very talented backfield with three top-end running backs sharing the load.

Doesn't sound like he will get a lot of carries this year which is a very good thing for us. Keep the tread on them tires.

Probably won't get a lot of wear on his tires here either. Second class with possibly 3 RBs (Emmons).

Exactly, what I hope UT does. That solves the supposed lack of an elite LB problem in this class, also. Emmons is the power back, I believe UT needs right now. Maybe Jordan can eventually be a power back, but Emmons is already there.

Kid reminds me of Maybin....in that he is just a football player, period. You can ask him to do about anything on the football field and he will be good at it. He will find a way to be productive somewhere on the field.

U nailed it. Whether at RB, LB or a returner, just a pure football player.

Grant was Mr. Everything in Buford’s 34-17 win over Melbourne Central Catholic. The tailback rushed for a 3-yard touchdown and also returned an interception for a 28-yard score. Grant added two sacks and three tackles for loss, too.

Not sure he's big enough but maybe?

LB depth might not be as bad as people think. Ignont, Page, Reid and Gray (sounds like he's going to redshirt and bulk up to play OLB)...plus Flint and maybe Grant from '18 class. For a team that mostly plays nickel that's pretty good young talented depth at LB, IMO.
