'18 GA RB Anthony Grant (FSU signee)

Sounds like somebody needs to take time to comprehend his own posts.

Sure sounds like you think it's a stupid, bad idea, misstep. Or maybe you think we should not take him.

I think it is a stupid PR move for all the reasons that have already been discussed to death, which is why I think it is a bad idea, but from a football standpoint I don't want to take him any more than you guys do. He is probably never going to be 100% again, and if he does it will be a long time coming.

Why is that hard to grasp?

Do you ecen know what I'm even talking about in regards to why it is a bad PR move?

You know what...just forget it.

What a terrible idea.

You don’t take a kid just because so you can process him a year down the road because he doesn’t fit your system. Wtf good does that do the kid?

Agree. It's a difficult move to let Lit go, especially because of his mom's passing, but UT is in no position to take a kid that has had two major knee injuries in the last few years.

If we had Bama's depth, then he's more likely a take, if only for PR purposes, but UT needs all the able-bodied linemen that can play right away. We're in no position to gamble on linemen right now.

I hate to see it happen, but thems the breaks.

Anthony Grant committed to Tennessee over the summer. He has said that if the new coaching staff will have him, he wants to be a Vol. It was never his plan to sign during the early period. He might lose his spot depending on how the rest of the recruits shake out.

Tennessee is still pursuing other options. My thought is for a third back and not as a replacement for Grant.

According to Simonton our staff wants to keep him in this class but doesn't see him as a RB or LB. Not sure where else he would play.

I just watched an eval piece / video this morning that 247 did on him, and they speculate that he may be a better fit at corner.

Not trying to antagonize....I’m new here. But....if you go back and read your recent posts, it appears that readers perceive your posts different than you intended them to be. Many of your replies back to them are, “just forget it,” “never mind,” “people must be stupid...,” etc. Just something to think about... have a good new year.

Yes I do. And I understand your concern. You also said that dropping him was a "bad idea", a "misstep", and that "one damn scholarship isn't going to hurt anything", So I thought I understand your position.

But then you said "We are just not in a good enough place to take any more projects I guess. I get it, I just hope the HS coaches and parents in that area understand"
and
"I agree that we should not have to take him"

Just a little confusing, like you were flip flopping, but then you accused others of not taking time to comprehend what you're saying or being too stupid to.

Then you made it clearer in you're initial reply to my post.

I hope this clears up my position once and for all.

I think it is a bad idea to drop Litaker for PR reasons because of the particulars of his individual case.

I think it will be a bad misstep with the area coaches and parents..An area that is growing ever more important to in state recruiting...BUT

I also resent that you would have to take a guy that may never be able to play SEC level football, and if does it will be years down the road..JUST to appease those area coaches and parents.

So to sum up my thoughts..I think it is a dumb PR move at a crucial stage for a new staff in state, even though I realize it makes sense from a purely football point of view.

One scholarship is not worth the bad PR..IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE.

I also did not call any poster stupid. Please read that post again.

I'm not responding again on this, I am really trying not to keep on beating a dead horse.

I did not mean to call anybody stupid, this whole conversation is frustrating to me.

Simplest way to say it, yes, Litaker is hurt, and who knows if he'll ever play at a high enough level again. But he's much beloved by his community, and pulling his scholarship threatens having our coaches shut out of that area. Not saying it's right, but the coaches at his school can easily tell our coaches they are no longer welcome on campus, and getting shut out of a home state HS is absolutely bad PR. Believe whatever you want on whether we should take him or not, but look at the entire situation and possible repercussions before coming to a conclusion.

You would think these hs coaches would understand. Pruitt is getting paid lots of money to right this ship and needs players who can hold up in the SEC. Its hard to trust those bad knees

Please educate me on all the things this “Community” has done to help Mr. Littaker. Are you assuming that the people in this “Community” aren’t smart enough to make their own decisions and understand that this kid may never play football again because of his grades and injuries? If I lived there I certainly wouldn’t want you as our spokesperson. None of us know all that’s involved. Let’s see how this all plays out.

If it turns out he can not play because of injury, he can be on scholarship and will not count against the 85 limit. If he heals and can play, it would be a bonus to have him. Sign him up.

But he would have to count toward the 25 scollies we get every year. We have a new staff trying to flip the roster, why would they take someone who can't play due to injury?

Clean up in Aisle 7. Please take the Litaker posts to the Litaker thread. The horse is dead.

Per Hubbs

Also, Anthony Grant remains committed to Tennessee, and after talking to various sources, it appears the Vols would like to keep Grant in the class simply as "an athlete." Va. Tech is pushing hard for a flip though.

Sounds like they want him on defense as a Corner or Safety but may give him a shot at RB. Best to be straight up with him. Give him a chance to beat out the other backs first, but if he can't move him to defense.

Kid is a RB all the way.

But I'm confident the staff will see that once he gets to campus.
