Talked to some coaches in Ga and had to get the scoop. Buford is a very good school with some great athletes. His film was so amazing i had to inquire. They play lower level in Ga and are so much better than the teams they play. The perception theyeft on me was he's a good back on a really good team who dominates the LOS which is why he seldom gets touched 1st level. 2 former UGA players now coaches said they doubted he's high level SEC sarter but could be a serviceable back up for a SEC school

The coaches you talked to must not be from GA bc he plays like 5A competition. They lost to a loaded Rome team in the 5A Finals this past yr. There's good competition on about all levels in GA though. Buford pumps out kids every year. You're never that accurate.
Buford is 2 classes down from the top, but they do play great schools. They lost to Rome in the state champioship game last year and their only score came on a 1 yard run 25 seconds into the game after Grant had a 95 yard KR to start the game.
They did play Kell, Carrollton, and Jones Co last year too. They opened the season with 7a runner up Roswell.
Buford has played in 10 straight state championship games in now multiple classifications. They lost the last two and are 7-3 the last 10 years in those games. Thry just lost their coach to the Falcons though.
It's the #1 rated 5A program in GA.
There is 6A and 7A in GA too. While Buford isn't in the highest level, they are definitely not playing scrubs. Actually, after some re-classifications, last year I believe, Buford's competition is even tougher now than it used to be.
Also spoke to a coach there at Buford that played at UGA and yes all this is true. Also stated they are head and hills above the rest in 5A(not sure if bragging or what). I was just inquiring about the kid and the competition he played due to the hudl film. I like that once he hits open field he is not caught often, along with his vision and open field ability on Spec Tms.
I don't doubt that they are better than most of their competition. They do play teams that are just as good and sometimes better than them though. Those may not be 5A teams they are playing though. I actually started following Buford football (somewhat) by mistake a few years ago. I was having an old man moment and thought I was looking up Beaufort, SC HS Football. After I realized my mistake (mostly that the towns are not even spelled the same) I was pleasantly surprised at the team I had actually found. Have been somewhat following them every since though. The fact that they have won I believe 7/10 of the last State Championships is very impressive. Hopefully they will continue to produce under their new coach.
not disputing anything just repeating what I was told.
Oh, I know. Wasn't insinuating that you were. Was more talking about the silly way I got into Buford Football. If what you say about the O-line at Buford is true (and I believe it is), then all we need to do is make sure Mr. Grant has an exceptional O-line at UT. Then he'll be an AA RB.
Buford has some of the top facilities in the country for HS. There is so much money being poured into that town it's ridiculous. I'm practically moving there next week. I've talked to a fair amount of people and they churn out D1 players pretty well, if I remember right.
