"I have a great relationship with the coaching staff," Flowers said. "They are guys that I wanted to spend the next three to four years with. Several of them have coached in the secondary. I know they can help me develop. I like their defense and it's similar to my high school defense."

Flowers picked the Vols over Clemson after officially visiting both last week. The decision came down to a quickest path to the field.

"I felt like Tennessee needed me more," Flowers said. "I just feel like I can make a bigger impact at Tennessee."

Flowers is a multi-sport star for Tucker, as he excels at baseball as well. It's been well-documented that he was once committed to Kentucky for America's pastime. Things changed when he came out for football his senior year. It was the first time since 7th grade that he put on the pads and things just started to fall in place.

"I think it helps a lot," Flowers said. "They could see I have good hands and reaction and good reflexes. Baseball is a hard sport and one of the hardest sports. I think I'm just scratching the surface of what I can be."

And Flowers' athleticism is why Pruitt & Co., took a strong liking to athlete as National Signing Day approached.

"They say that I move well and have good eyes," Flowers said. "Just that I'm an athlete. I can do a lot and I can still improve a lot to get to where I want to be. They think I can play either strong or free safety. I'm willing to play anywhere they need me."

Flowers fills a position of need, as Tennessee wanted to add multiple pieces in the secondary during the second signing period. He still plans on playing both baseball and football in college.

“It was good,” Flowers said of the baseball part of the visit. "They have a good plan mapped out for me to do both and what helps is that it was clear both coaches (Vitelo and Pruitt) want me.”
