When you get an elite DL/DE/DT to commit, you are thankful.
You never ever say no to elite DL.
If 4 want to be Vols this year, you take all 4.
Only 3 of these 4 are true DTs. The 4th is likely a DE.
By the way, if you have 3 sets of elite DTs (6 total), then you rotate 3 sets. Always full speed when they are in. Increased ferocity. Decreased injury risk because they aren't tired. There is no downside. Unless you are the opposing OL.
85 scholarship players.
22 1st string
22 2nd string
22 3rd string
Leaves you 19 players. 1 LS, 1 punter, 1kicker, 1 backup kicker.
Stil leaves you 15 players. 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 TE,
4 DTs, 4 DEs, leaves you 4 more spots.
That gives you 10 DTs and 10 DEs.
Not 4 every year, but there will not be 4 elite DTs every year that want to be part of Tennessee. Takes em when you can gets em.
I am finished here. (I would take linemen for the last 4 spots too).
Better hope you absolutely crush your evaluations and for no injuries. Better have the best conditioning in the country too.
