'18 RB Madre London (Grad Transfer Committed to UT)

Questioning the strategy with grad transfers and blueshirts does not necessarily equal thinking that "the coaching staff is clueless and has no plan." Personally I think it's a little short sighted. I would be willing to bet we end up turning someone away due to numbers for the 2019 class who would do more for us long term than any of these transfers/blue shirts, but in the grand scheme of things I doubt it ends up being that big of a deal. Any player getting turned away won't be a priority.

My best guess at this point is that we're making a small improvement to the roster short term at the cost of a little bit bigger improvement long term.

The wildcard to me is Chryst. If he ends up being the starter and playing really well, that's big.

I'll be interested to see how it all turns out. Bottom line, if this staff recruits and develops players like we all hope they can, this is probably nothing more than a minor blip on the radar.
So if London picks up a huge 3rd and one late, or bulls into the endzone off G on 4th down from the one for the game winning TD against Kentucky, Mizzou or USC...is he not worth it also?

They found out on signing day to get the players they need to compete with Bama that they have to win a minimum of 6 but need 7 plus and don’t have the luxury of a five year plan.

The coaches are bringing in guys they think can contribute and IMO, they expect them to play. They wouldn't be wasting roster spots bringing in 3rd stringers for one-year depth. They see holes and they're trying to plug them. Now.

Make moves today to win as much as possible this season. Significant turn-around from last year will be noticed by future recruits.

If Chryst and London help win 1 or 2 games, the quality of recruits we sign in 2019 may offset the loss of those spots counted forward.

Yep as one of the other sites said. Pruiit found out the n last class that winning as many games as he can early will make the biggest impact for recruiting when trying to recruit with Bama/UGA. Both schools pushed the sure you can go there and get great coaching and not win for a year or 2 or come here get same coaching and win now

When we’re in Bama’s stratosphere. We’re not.

You overreacting to this so badly it amazing. It's not like a credit card collecting interest. It's zero interest loan if you want to use that type of analogy. You pay back what you take out. So dumb worrying about numbers. They clearly have the numbers and know what to do with them. tale what you need now. Win. Get depth right and you can take a few less guys in a class down rd

Short term impulse purchase that you take years to pay off. It’s my opinion and you calling me dumb isn’t going to change it...so **** off. :)

Numbers thread, anyone? CrunchyLeb?

Like I said in a previous post, if they help us win games it's a good move. If they don't, it isn't.

i think its pretty obvious the guy can play a little. the question is, will it even matter? can we block decently enough for any RB to look good?

since this is year 1 with Pruitt and he's choosing these transfers, I'll trust him, until he gives me reason not to. You can look at production at MSU, speed, etc. and doubt this addition all you want, but it cannot be denied that this is obviously the type of back they want in this system. Hopefully he takes to the system and can provide our current roster of backs a boost, and most importantly, a solid option when they need a breather.

Be careful, I trusted Butch until he gave me a reason not to. He gave me plenty of reason by not going for it on 4th and an inch against UF and OU, not playing Dobbs sooner, etc. So now i'm jaded. I'm not trusting this staff (or any staff) until they give me a reason to.

Picking up Madre isn't really giving me a reason to trust them. This tell me we just need practice bodies.

Don't do it, man. It's a miserable way to follow your team. Better off just logging out and finding a new hobby than going all negavol.

not going all in negavol. I just want to see some results. I have high hopes like you: 15-0 here we come.

15-0 won't happen until '19 at the earliest. :)

7-5 - 9-3 this fall depending on injuries and development. I think at the very least our D will be MUCH better than in the last couple seasons under Shoop.

Offense will likely take some time due to OL talent and depth but I'm hopeful with better QB coaching that JG, Chryst and Shrout will be better than expected this fall.

A good defense and average offense will be enough to win 7+ in 2018.

I agree. I think this guy can play, but it all starts up front....can we open holes and protect? We shall see, I suppose...

Wow. We actually have fans/posters that believe CJP could be in the category of Butch. The guy who had no NC rings and actually was not even a coordinator at a P-5 school before become a HC - just like Dools before him. Fans who bought into the BS of Butch and Dools need to ask themselves why they did that and not put CJP in the same category unless he actually proves differently first. That's nega-Vol on steroids. You don't even know that your comparison is apples to oranges.

Surely folks don't believe that you can recruit to a 4-8 program that just fired their coaches as well as you can to a .500 to winning program coming off a bowl season. There are glaring holes in the roster. CJP is bringing in one year rentals that can be counted on to be dependable #2's in the two deep at positions of need. Time to move on to next worry of the month. You only get a half dozen or so out of 20-25 recruits in a cycle that are major contributors. So taking 20-22 in a cycle is just not an issue.

Relevant to putting faith in the coaches or not.... what does “be careful” mean? Does it mean if you trust them and it turns out they didn’t know what they were doing something awful will happen to you? Worst thing that can happen is disappointment. Guess what, if they fail we will be disappointed anyway no matter what we thought on the front end.

What difference does it make if you trust them or not? Doesn’t change the outcome of anything. Just choosing to be miserable and pizz and moan or relax and hope for the best.

Wait, Pruitt doesn’t get a year zero?

urban meyer, nick saban, dabo swinney, kiffin was a co-coordinator, johnny majors to go to UT. plenty of successful coaches were never P5 coordinators before becoming head coaches. heck at least half this board still wants Gruden to be our coach and he has like 2 years of college experience with WRs.

i don't mind the QB because we do need bodies there, and at least the guy had been a starter. At RB we are moving one guy and bringing in a back up which tells me the coaches aren't too worried about that spot.
