'18 TN ATH Joseph Norwood

Pruitt was a bit pissy about him at the Press conference. Do you think he backed off after he found out?

edit: NM (see above) but it is off putting..

I haven't seen the presser, so just a guess here. Maybe he's tired of being asked about a player he can't comment on.

Bump.

Is his involvement speculation or fact?

Hard to tell. Legally it's sealed. There is only one place that names him and it's like a blog or message board poster who claims his name was in an article that was removed immediately when the incident happened. If I read it right. So possibly could be him. But tough to judge him based on the site I saw. At least tough to call it a credible confirmation. I guess we'll see what comes out.

I loved what the young man said in his television interview, too. He values the opportunity and is proud to be a Vol.

We need more of that.

This is what I saw...

Ooltewah High School Basketball Team Rape: Cover Up Or Trying To Get The Story Strait? - Justice Junction's New Board

I live in the area and heard about this, but had no idea he was involved.

Yeah that's the only thing I've seen that names him. I've read articles about everyone at Brainard welcoming him with open arms after he transfered. But didn't seem like they thought he was involved. Here's a quote:

"Norwood had several options of schools to attend after leaving Ooltewah and the tumult surrounding the Owls’ program in 2016."

Wow! If he was really involved, then I don't think he deserves the opportunity to play here. Sad situation.

I agree with you but that link is just a message board with one poster naming him so hard to confirm it's true. And I've been searching for anything else that would corroborate but every corroboration I've found just has that one poster in that one link as evidence. So I'll wait and see if anything else comes out before I judge him.

Just putting this out there, got a text from my cousin today saying "welp my Vols just signed a guy involved of a hazing rape incident, I really hope all the local talk here is wrong". He lives in the Chattanooga area and was referring to Norwood. Granted y'all know how local gossip can spread like crazy and all. Hope for UT's sake and Norwood's as well, he is not one of the 16 yr olds (at the time of the rape) involved. The actions of those involved are pure evil.

This whole thing was weird. Even the lead investigator got on the stand and said it was blown way out of proportion.

The DA tried to bring the officer up on charges because he didn’t come to the conclusion he wanted. I think allot of this was politically motivated after the fact.

I believe in forgiveness too, but that doesn’t mean you get to represent my school and state after committing atrocious acts. I believe in second chances as well, but you forgo certain privileges upon doing certain deeds.

What was done to the child who was raped (another boy) was so bad he almost died and his life will never be the same. I was so angry about it. If this kid was there, get rid of him period. He may not have had the power to stop it and may have feared it would happen to him if watching but if he participated in it then he is one sick puppy. Don't want him anywhere near this team. He doesn't get the privilege to do so.

This kid isn’t a can’t miss 5 star player that you go to the mat and risk your reputation for. Surely JP, Fulmer and company did their homework before offering this kid. Gotta believe that’s the case here.

Pruitt waited until today to offer this kid. Do y'all really think the homework wasn't put in before he offered?
