'18 TN DL Greg Emerson (UT commit 7/3/17)

Why do you care? Just make your posts/contributions with your opinions and let him do the same with his.

Because if he is going to offer his opinion, it should be subject to criticism by those of others who choose to do so. I still don't know why people think that it is ok to post something and not expect people to respond to it in a negative way.

I see the same usual morons have ran to their computers just to type a bunch of chicken little bs. He didn't lose his leg. He will be back in 4-6 weeks. May miss a game or 2 to start the season.

That's the problem with the world today.

No chicken little here, but I have had a similar injury. He'll be walking on it in 6 weeks, but he won't be 'back'. Bone heals easy enough, but the soft tissue will take much longer. I certainly didn't have either the drive to recover or access to the physical therapy that he does, but it was 6 months before it felt strong and over a year before it felt 'normal'. He's much younger than I was, so he might beat that, just saying it isn't a minor thing.

You can give criticism where it's deserved on a certain matter and still not come off as a constant negative jerk. Some posters feed off by negativity and assume we should all agree with their contributions.

Why do we care? We don't care. Doesn't mean we have to kiss ass and accept it.

It's not hard to be positive every once in a while, no matter how bad a situation occurs whether it has to do with Butch, the players, coaching staff, or the University in general.

Just seems more reasonable to pick one of those alleged myriads of negative posts (I don't get on here enough to know his posting history) instead of a pretty innocuous one.

I thought it was funny that he said a 2018 recruit not even committed to us who gets injured reflects on our luck. I was just caught off guard that that low hanging fruit went ignored and we jumped into how negative he was being lol

I just hope his team doesn't rush him back and cause him to have lingering issues into his college career.

You should have stopped when you expressed sympathy for Emerson and his injury, but you just could not resist taking a jab at Tennessee. Yes, I know, it was just about our bad luck, but it was still a jab.

To be honest, the only one losing anything here is Greg Emerson. Until December or whenever he announces something and signs with someone, he is a prospect. No more, no less.

What happened today has nothing to do with Tennessee.

A reasonable concern.

i'll be very interested to see how he does at DE. I would think DT would be easier to play with a gimpy wheel, but he seems pretty committed to DE. He also may find it easier to play one side over the other, so if they are flexible he may be more successful.

Like any injury, a big part of the limitation is mental...and he may do great, since elite athletes are nothing like us mortals. I just remember hurting for a long time after I was declared healed.

4 - 6 weeks would be a miracle. I had a spiral fracture of my right fibula and fractured bones in my ankle. They had to put a pin though my ankle and a steel plate to hold the fubila together while it healed. I was still in a cast at 4 weeks and then into a walking boot.

If he dislocated his ankle there has to be soft tissue damage and, depending on the fubila fracture, may need surgery to hold that together while it heals.

I was walking on mine in 4 weeks but running? No way.. he will have a long road ahead of him to a complete recovery... Like it was said earlier , to feel "normal".

Had a friend that had a similar injury also and his recovery was about the same.

I hope maybe his isn't as bad as it seems or we think it is. It can't be if he will be running in that short of a time frame.

I wish him the best and a quick and full recovery.

I'm pretty dang sure it'll be healed up before next spring. That's the main thing.

yeah, i think this is the bigger point, he has the better part of a year to get healthy and still be a participant in his first off season...spring, summer, fall.

do that, and we're good. he'll have access to to all kinds of resources for rehab etc...

the tell tale will be if he has to miss any time this fall during his final season in HS.

I almost wish he would, that way he can devote all his time to getting rehabbing and getting healed. I would hate to see him get reinjured because he pushed himself too hard too soon.

eh, if he has the surgery, rehabs, and gets cleared to play, he should play.

if he takes the rest of the year off, and doesn't get back to any football related activities until next spring/summer....that could take longer to come back from.

Kmac, for different reasons, had similar issues not being able to play his Sr. year, and imo, think thwarted his college development some.

to each his own here, cause there's always a chance he could aggravate or re-injure himself.
