“It's the best morning I've ever had,” an excited Lane said. “Coach (Butch) Jones texted me this morning. As soon as I saw the text, I got up and called him back. I was like is this going to be it. We started talking and he asked me if I was sitting down. I said yes and he said he was offering me a scholarship and wanted me to come join their football family and play football for them.

“I was astonished,” Lane said. “I couldn't believe it. I'm really excited. It's here at home. I have been a huge Tennessee fan for so long and having the opportunity to play for the them is huge. “My mom heard me talking upstairs and the came to she steps and when I got off the phone I told her what happened and she couldn't believe it. I called dad and he's pretty excited as well.”

The Vol offer continues a run of offers for Lane who picked up scholarships from Duke and Georgia Tech over the weekend. Over spring break, Lane and his family will see Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Georgia.

“I want to explore all my options. I want to see where I can go flourish and be the best football player I can possibly be.” But Lane doesn't deny the significance of the offer from his hometown school. “It's huge,” Lane admitted. “The Tennessee offer is great because I have the option to stay home and play. The chance to play football for the Volunteers has been a dream of mine since I was little. I still have a lot of options. When I make my choice it will be a hard one. I have my family with me to help me decide what to do.”

“I love coach Wells. He is a great guy. My family and I really like him,” Lane said. “He is really funny, but I feel like when it's time to get down to business and get serious, he does that. I feel like we have the same kind of personalities.”

Northwestern and Duke want him, too. Well, one thing is for sure, this kid can get it done academically. Wells is the man and the in-state kids on the OL and DL can fill everything we need, this year.

Ga. Tech, also

Every time I see this kid's name I start to sing "Ollie Lane there is a barber showing photographs..." in my head.

Ollie Lane - Hudl

I like this kids film. He plays DT a lot too and does a really good job. The play at the 0:25 second mark shows some nice athleticism to chase down a RB and make the tackle.
