the top-100 sophomore offensive tackle from franklin (tenn.) high school, who already holds nine offers, said he will “probably go up to tennessee by the end of the spring sometime,” although he’s not sure exactly when he might make the trip to knoxville.

“i just want to meet the coaches,” said wray, a four-star prospect who’s ranked by 247sports as the nation’s no. 78 overall prospect and no. 13 offensive tackle in the 2018 class. “i know that neyland (stadium) is crazy. I know the fan base is crazy. I’ve been up there for a couple games. But i want to meet the coaches, see the environment and just see how they do things.”

“i talked to coach mahoney on the phone, like, a week after (the offer),” wray said. “i’ve been trying to keep in touch. He just wants to get me up there and have some one-on-one time with me and meet me and all that, just trying to get me to commit.”

"Very much leaning toward UT"

Would be great to pair this young man with Cade Mays and then pick up little brother too.

We've got to have this guy. With his age and frame, he can easily play at +300 lbs and be a road grader. Here is the kind of instate talent that we can't miss out on. I hope he grew up a Vol fan.

Was on campus to see the practice yesterday. Two schools are standing out per 247. I can't read the article to report details though ($).

Edit: UT and UGA seem to be the two teams he is focusing on.

WOW! We Must get this guy. To bring in Wray and Mays in the same class is a fantastic duo in prospect. This is a "Gotta Have" recruit.

wray said he’s high on tennessee and georgia for similar reasons.

“they’re on the upswing, i feel like,” wray said of the vols. “i feel like they’re going to have a really good year next year. The recruiting classes they’ve been bringing in, i feel like they’re set up for success in the future. (i like) the atmosphere there. I love coach jones, coach debo, coach mahoney. I just feel like it’s going to be a great place to be in the future.

“what i liked the most was that the players, they weren’t acting like it was a drag to go to practice,” wray said. “they were excited to get out there and get better. There was energy at practice. They were excited to be out there. They were fired up and ready to go.

“i liked how fired up (mahoney) was. He really got into it. It really matters to him whether his unit does good or bad, and he takes it personally if someone messes up a rep. He’ll lay into them sometimes, but sometimes he just kind of goes soft on them and gives them the understanding why and all that stuff, so i like the way he coached a lot.

“i love coach mahoney. I had a great time with him. I’ve always liked him, ever since he came to my school. We talk on the phone a lot. I’ve always enjoyed him. He seems to be a good coach, and i could see myself playing for him.”

No worries. Great prospect for sure. We have Mays and Will get Trey Smith, who I think is the best tackle prospect in the 2017 class.

Man, what are all these kids commiting left, right, and center going to do once UGA doesn't win more than 8 regular season games for the next couple seasons?

what have the vols done in the past decade? plenty of reasons to go to Georgia. We have a great staff and will be getting a lot of talent. Recruits can see Kirby's vision and his message is winning guys over. the recruiting battles the next few years will be fun to watch for sure.
