the top-100 sophomore offensive tackle from franklin (tenn.) high school, who already holds nine offers, said he will probably go up to tennessee by the end of the spring sometime, although hes not sure exactly when he might make the trip to knoxville.
i just want to meet the coaches, said wray, a four-star prospect whos ranked by 247sports as the nations no. 78 overall prospect and no. 13 offensive tackle in the 2018 class. i know that neyland (stadium) is crazy. I know the fan base is crazy. Ive been up there for a couple games. But i want to meet the coaches, see the environment and just see how they do things.
i talked to coach mahoney on the phone, like, a week after (the offer), wray said. ive been trying to keep in touch. He just wants to get me up there and have some one-on-one time with me and meet me and all that, just trying to get me to commit.
wray said hes high on tennessee and georgia for similar reasons.
theyre on the upswing, i feel like, wray said of the vols. i feel like theyre going to have a really good year next year. The recruiting classes theyve been bringing in, i feel like theyre set up for success in the future. (i like) the atmosphere there. I love coach jones, coach debo, coach mahoney. I just feel like its going to be a great place to be in the future.
247what i liked the most was that the players, they werent acting like it was a drag to go to practice, wray said. they were excited to get out there and get better. There was energy at practice. They were excited to be out there. They were fired up and ready to go.
i liked how fired up (mahoney) was. He really got into it. It really matters to him whether his unit does good or bad, and he takes it personally if someone messes up a rep. Hell lay into them sometimes, but sometimes he just kind of goes soft on them and gives them the understanding why and all that stuff, so i like the way he coached a lot.
i love coach mahoney. I had a great time with him. Ive always liked him, ever since he came to my school. We talk on the phone a lot. Ive always enjoyed him. He seems to be a good coach, and i could see myself playing for him.
Gotta think it's either us or UGA given the recent comments posted above.
yep.. he said he is down to the vols and uga. should make an announcement in the next couple of weeks. callahan, kipp adams, and barton simmons put in CBs for UGA today. article below.
Top100 OT ready to decide
Man, what are all these kids commiting left, right, and center going to do once UGA doesn't win more than 8 regular season games for the next couple seasons?
what have the vols done in the past decade? plenty of reasons to go to Georgia. We have a great staff and will be getting a lot of talent. Recruits can see Kirby's vision and his message is winning guys over. the recruiting battles the next few years will be fun to watch for sure.
