'18 TN OT Max Wray

Referring to HC stability. I think Butch has a lot more internal stability than public media and opposing teams are telling families.

If distance an issue for the others then I would think it hurts LSU too.

I can't believe UGA is talking G with him. That makes zero sense unless it was their way of opening up another spot since they have their own heavy instate focus.

Yea, I don't understand LSU being an option if Clemson is too far.

That said, if we land Wray and Mays, the OL is set for years. Could be an epic class.

The road back to national prominence will come as UT solidifies the Offensive and Defensive lines. The fact that the state of Tennessee is about to have a 5 year run of top notch line talent bodes very well for the Vols.

Max's dads post on VQ...

"Your right Austin, Clemson was a great visit, it's just hard to get around the driving distance and Oregon is making a good attempt, but same problem there. UGA stubbed their toe by suggesting a move inside to my wife when I wasn't there. That ain't happening. Max is almost 6'7" barefoot now and 287lb and has tremendous arm length. He is a tackle. Texas is an option, but I expect it to be a 3 way fight between Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee. Alabama is obviously the safest choice, and provides Max with the best competition, which he thrives on, and the coaching stability for long term success. I like the LSU situation as well. They have some great people in place. Having said that Butch Is making a big effort and has impressed me with his humility and willingness to change. I'm a big Walt Wells fan, there is something about him I just really like. He is a fiery competitor... Max is an early enrollee so we are moving through this process quickly."

Did you notice how he commented on Alabama and LSU, then he made the statement of "having said that"? When I hear that phrase in recruiting, it makes me think that the next school the person is about to speak about is the one that is the favorite, or at least where they are leaning at the moment.

Absolutely. Games are won or lost on the Line of Scrimmage. Always have been. Always will be.

It appears we are in very good shape here

I like the way you think. Doesn't mean a hill of beans, and I'm sure you know that as well, but it has to carry some weight right now at least. The biggest thing I'm taking from it right now is...we're battling Bama and LSU for this guy..and we're in it. That's pretty huge in and of itself. We're moving back up to where we should be.

And Mays' brother

In the SEC especially.

Off topic...do I recall you posting that you played football at UT? If so, and your 72 is your graduation date...you may very well have been a Vol player during the era that made me the staunch Vol fan that I am. I became a Vol fan in 69. at the age of 5/6. Wasn't born into a football family, but scrolling through my transistor radio one day at that young age, I was mesmerized by John Wards voice...and the rest is history,

Old as dirt, IMO.

:hi:

Feeling it at least. A man shouldn't have these kinds of aches and pains at my age.

Thanks Freedom!!

I'm only 36 and can't make it through the day pain free without pills.

Who would you play inside on the O-line from that group?
Probably depends on how many of the guys we took in 2017 turn out to be able to play OT or not. If Smith and Calbert both turn out to be better suited at OG, then maybe all 3 of those guys stick at OT and duke it out.
