'18 TN OT Max Wray

Apparently his dad posted on TOS that it's down to UT, UA, and LSU. That they really like Walt Wells, and they really like Butches willingness to change.

Wells is really highly thought of in Middle Tennessee. The younger Wray brother supposedly has us as his favorite but he is only a Soph.

If only your name was Hubbs.

I am kidding. Appreciate the information.

I think It's between UT and LSU. We have to remember Austin Thomas is at LSU and has strong middle TN ties also. But never trust the power of the dark side at Bama.

So glad to see that we are back in the running with him. UGA must have really pissed him and his family off, he was committed to them forever.

I don't know but I wouldn't send my kid to play for an unknown like Smart. Nor Chaney on offense to call plays. I wouldn't trust that staff on the field at all.

What about the Pittman factor? That slipping.

So, what happened with UGA here? Surprised that they are not, at least, still in the mix

His dad said they mentioned moving him inside. They believe Max is a pure tackle and will not entertain that idea.

For what's it worth, his dad is pure class in his postings on TOS.

"Your right Austin, Clemson was a great visit, it's just hard to get around the driving distance and Oregon is making a good attempt, but same problem there. UGA stubbed their toe by suggesting a move inside to my wife when I wasn't there. That ain't happening. Max is almost 6'7" barefoot now and 287lb and has tremendous arm length. He is a tackle. Texas is an option, but I expect it to be a 3 way fight between Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee. Alabama is obviously the safest choice, and provides Max with the best competition, which he thrives on, and the coaching stability for long term success. I like the LSU situation as well. They have some great people in place. Having said that Butch Is making a big effort and has impressed me with his humility and willingness to change. I'm a big Walt Wells fan, there is something about him I just really like. He is a fiery competitor... Max is an early enrollee so we are moving through this process quickly."

Sounds like a solid guy. Not mincing words either. Bama is the safe choice, but it doesn't mean he's taking the safe choice. I personally don't understand the LSU love right now, but I'm not a college football recruit either.

I would disagree about coaching stability with Alabama though, other teams are always trying to take their coaches. Before you know it their OL coach will be offered O.C. or Head coach.

Not only that but Saban could retire in 2-3 years. Never know with someone as old as he... Or he could go the way of the bear

Referring to HC stability. I think Butch has a lot more internal stability than public media and opposing teams are telling families.

If distance an issue for the others then I would think it hurts LSU too.

I can't believe UGA is talking G with him. That makes zero sense unless it was their way of opening up another spot since they have their own heavy instate focus.
