'18 TN OT Max Wray

Looking like he's still around. From about 2 weeks ago-

What in the Effing Hell are they doing associating with him?

That Is Terrible...

Maybe I missed it, but can someone fill me in on who he is, what he does, and why there is dislike for him?

Byron Devinner. He is a corrupt handler that is not welcome within 100 miles of Knoxville. He steers kids toward the school that offers the most money with no regard for the kids' interests. He gloms on to kids and uses them for his own selfish interests. I believe he got in trouble for claiming to be a not for profit organization too. Anyway, he is a POS. Also, he shole is hungree.

I don't think the coaches would be pleased seeing this pic. I'm pretty sure he is not welcome on campus. Also is barred from Miss St over the scandal he was part of.

He is welcome at Bama and UGA, very tight with Pruitt

I'm sure he is tight with Bama, Bama is untouchable.

Back to Max Wray......

I heard a rumor that something happened with the staff that ticked Wray or his family off. De1, can you confirm or deny this?

I'm too lazy to read back through the train wrecks this thread and the Stevens thread turned into, but I'm pretty sure I remembering De1 saying in one of the 2 threads that Wray and his family were thoroughly unimpressed with Mahoney and that that played a role in the decision.

Choosing Mahoney over Pittman may be CBJs worst decision. And I'm one of the people who thinks Mahoney can coach.

He had his guys. Jake,Strip,Jancek and Mahoney. They knew what he wanted to set up on a new team and how to accomplish it. Butch has had to change that mentality since his hire, and that's why Strip and Mahoney are all that remains. The DL has never been an issue, so that leaves our OL guru. Since he arrived, the correct assessment has been that Pittman was better. That being said, is our OL play better now than when we inherited Pittman's one and done effort (that has four NFL players)? I say a resounding yes! Whether that's due to DeBord's oversight remains to be determined but OL recruits gravitate towards success. That's why recruits flock to the Bama's and LSU's of the world...not the name on the coaching staff. Our guys get out there and roadgrade some DLs this year? Mahoney suddenly become an "elite coach"...JMO.

Yes he did say that, but this rumor I heard didn't seem to have anything to do with that. It wasn't "unimpressed", it was "ticked off" by something that was said or done. They wouldn't elaborate on what.

I agree for the most part. I think Mahoney can coach and have defended him on several occasions. But I have read enough recruit comments to know that Pittman has a much better reputation than Mahoney. Recruits know who he is. Smart basically said that Chaney refused to take the OC job without him.

I don't think you can judge Pittman's one & done against DeBord/Mahoney three years.

So has Wray shut down his recruitment completely? I know we have Mays on board and are in good shape with McCall and Ekiyor, but Wray is a stud too. Those four might be the best OL haul in decades.

He sounds very committed to Georgia at this point. If Trevor Lawrence commits to Georgia you can forget about Wray flipping.

No idea, but he's not near the prospect Mays is IMO. Plus, like I've said before I seriously doubt Tennessee will land ANY OL prospects from the mid-state unless the kid just grows up a total die-hard Vol fan.

what makes you say this?

I highly doubt this is accurate. Why would one position group be of particular trouble in a specific town? This board sometimes...

... and wouldn't you consider Murfreesboro (home of consensus 4* 2015 signee Jack Jones) mid-state? I guess you would cover that up by saying that he grew up a "total die-hard Vol fan"? Even though I doubt you have a clue about that. Your post is highly questionable.
