You've strayed from the main point. Never argued that his offensive masterminds were great HC's in their own right (tho Herman seems to already qualify). Urban provides the recruiting and organizational structure. Just needs a dominant OC to land the title. And Herman was highly successful wherever he coached prior to Columbus...wouldn't give Urban props for his "development". Mullen followed him since Bowling Green but funny he can't clone that success...maybe Mullen is good in his own right? :dunno:

Masterful job by Herman. But since Braxton Miller was hurt in the preseason, Cardale Jones was actually second string (and garbage the following season without Herman after Meyer flubbed and kept him as a starter too long). Not enough towels? :)

They did play in a conference championship game though. Won 63-0......

Saban couldn't win big in the Big Ten but did it in the SEC. Urban has won big in both conferences. Call it what you want but the dude isn't just lucky.

You keep injecting someone else's opinion whilst addressing me...never called him "lucky". Does everything else you need to win a NC but needs an offensive mastermind to deliver the final ingredient. And winning a Big 10 Championship game against Wisconsin isn't beating a Bama in the regular season or conference championship game. Go through a similar gauntlet then color me impressed. As for Saban's stint in the Big 10? Use that experience when sjt is doing his usual slobbery comparisons to Butch. Developing his style at Michigan State got all the kinks out before he got to the LSU and Bama level programs...then he's been a superior coach to everybody...yes including Urban.

Personally I think the 2017 Vols could beat every single SEC team, Big 10 team, ACC team and anyone else that feels like stepping up for an ass whoopin. How bout dat

Seriously, I do. Folks are sleeping on these Vols. It's coming..
