4* on espn but NOT in top 300 let alone top 50 like on 247
I've been saying for a few years now that ESPN is the best at actually rating the prospects. 247 and Rivals are too invested in the actual recruits from wanting them to come to camps and such. ESPN doesn't rely on camps or income from paid subscribers looking for info on these recruits. I believe this allows them to judge the talent of the players more fairly.
I remember they were the first to rank Justin Fields really high before he started blowing up the camp circuit. I believe they had him in the top 5 and this was around the time we were still trying to recruit him. They also had Trey Smith ranked really high at the start of last year's cycle before anyone else. And I know everyone was angry in 2015 when they didn't have Kahlil McKenzie rated as a 5-star. But so far they've been proven right.
ESPN is the best recruiting service when it comes to actually ranking the prospects.
