'18 TN RB Master Teague

4* on espn but NOT in top 300 let alone top 50 like on 247

I've been saying for a few years now that ESPN is the best at actually rating the prospects. 247 and Rivals are too invested in the actual recruits from wanting them to come to camps and such. ESPN doesn't rely on camps or income from paid subscribers looking for info on these recruits. I believe this allows them to judge the talent of the players more fairly.

I remember they were the first to rank Justin Fields really high before he started blowing up the camp circuit. I believe they had him in the top 5 and this was around the time we were still trying to recruit him. They also had Trey Smith ranked really high at the start of last year's cycle before anyone else. And I know everyone was angry in 2015 when they didn't have Kahlil McKenzie rated as a 5-star. But so far they've been proven right.

ESPN is the best recruiting service when it comes to actually ranking the prospects.

Injuries have hampered KMac, not his ability.

Injuries and the terrible idea by the staff to have him drop so much weight last off-season. He looked so weird from a physical standpoint last season. His upper body didn't fit the rest of his body. Just so odd.

The guy was a monster as a true freshman at DT against the run, probably the hardest position for a true freshman to play at.

Meh, I think each service has scouts that are better for certain regions. Rivals is probably the best for the south east IMO right now. ESPN can be laughably biased and ignorant when it comes to adjusting a recruits ranking. They literally have said they want to see this and that out of a kid and the kid go do exactly what they said and then they still drop in ratings.

Major commitable offers are more what I look at. A kid like Emerson that not only had offers from Ohio state and Bama but was a high priority for both is a five star land for the staff.

Agreed. All of the recruiting services are hit or miss.

He definitely didn't need to play that light at all.

Pretty much and you can basically view and long tenured staff at a major powerhouse university as a regional recruiting service. Schools like FSU, Clemson, Bama, OSU have to be more accurate in evaluating than recruiting services because a multimillion to billion dollar revenue stream depends on it.

Yep was the first sign of the idiot we had running SC program. He needed to be in better shape but not drop drastic weight just to drop it. Big year for him coming rocking with the Rock

He's been mostly healthy besides the injury the last half of last season.

Go back and watch his freshman tape. He was not a monster against the run by any means. He could eat space and usually held his ground decently, but he wasn't disruptive.

As for him losing weight, the staff probably wanted him to lose the weight because he could hardly play 4 snaps in a row as a freshman before needing a break. Dude was crazy out of shape.

Drastic? He was playing at 325 last year. He's listed at basically the same weight right now.

KMac needed to drop down from the 360 he came in at. He was out of shape BAD as a freshman.

Pretty sure they said he was 315 or below last year. He had some injury issues as a freshman, just not season ending. One of them being a concussion.

IDK if ESPN is the best, but they're definitely not as bad as they get ribbed for on here.

You're right he was at 315 last year my bad.

Still don't think him playing light is the reason he hasn't been as dominant as we all thought he'd be though. I think he's just not the 5*, instant impact, game changing DT we all thought we were getting.

That's fine, he still has time to build a legacy and his upside is still there. But we all thought we were getting Ed Oliver. And I love KMac, but he just hasn't shown he can be that type of DT yet. He's a space eater at this point.

I definitely think he lost strength before last year and it affected him. I think he had been pretty good, not great. Definitely not what we had hoped so far but I still think he is gonna be great in the next year or two.

I hope the staff is still after this kid hard. Need to get him on board. Whatever it takes. We don't need top Tenn ayers going north.

I believe this ship has sailed. Butch and company are still cleaning up in state without Teague.

I would still welcome this kid with open arms, but like someone said above, that ship has sailed. I am very happy with Lyn-J and Grant. When UT adds BJ Emmons to this class, it will be top 5 in RBs for this recruiting class and overall
