'18 TN RB Master Teague

Murfreesboro Blackman’s Master Teague, rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports, visited the Buckeyes during the weekend with his family and says that things continue to go very well between him and Ohio State. “It was a great trip,” Teague told Land of 10. “We were able to learn what we wanted to learn and continue to build relationships and tour the campus and visit places like the library, talk about internships and talk about academic requirements. It was awesome.”

He tweeted today....

I want to say thanks to @UTCoachJones and @UTCoachG for a great visit at UT today.

Hope I'm wrong but my gut tells me he's a buckeye.

It was no accident that Dobbs just so happens to show up at practice when Teague is there. Teague is a 4.0 guy and academics are very important to him and his family.

Nice job by Butch.

I'm not worried about OSU yet.

Lot of guts hurting last year with Trey Smith. Every year it manifests itself. My gut betrayed me with Warrior (it rumbled Bama). 100% crystal ball guts said Kongbo wasn't coming here...Richmond and so forth. IF Kelly or another back has an epic season in this offense, we'll get more than one back of Teague's caliber in this next class. Big IF, but I'm optimistic that we're finally committed to a style that works.

Talking about a Darren Sproles type back? Those are the type I think we need.

The style we glimpsed when we were forced to play Kelly and Kamara...starting at Texas A&M. Butch's first two seasons involved indulging Bajakian's tendency to utilize wr's (usually Pig) on those unproductive fly sweeps. Finesse without being aggressive. DeBord had Hurd and rode him the last two, so we hadn't viewed what a running back who could hit the LOS quickly looked like. You have to be able to see that work as a running back prospect, to want to play in it imo. That is when we'll close the deal on the Cam Akers of the world...stars who didn't grow up loving the Vols.

He is, surely, smarter than giving the nod to Ohio St. They already have two backs committed for 2018, Jalen Gill and Brian Sneed. And both rate more highly, right now at least, than Teague. Besides, who wants to go to face a near guaranteed situation where somebody is going to have to transfer out later in order to get playing time. And, if Kelly has a good yr, he'll be gone after this coming yr. It makes a lot more sense for Teague to be a Vol.

Don't get me wrong, I want him in Tennessee. But I seem to remember him saying he considered himself more a power back and I can't help but wonder if he'd think OSU's style of play is more fitting for him than what we play.

Don't they run a spread style offense too? What about their offense is seriously more of a power style than what we run. I'm seriously asking because I think our offenses are pretty similar but I don't watch OSU play but a few times each year.

Gill will play more of the "hybrid" role at osu.

That being said, I'm not sure Teague gets an offer before osu waits on a decision from Thomas (big Ohio kid). If Thomas decides to go elsewhere (probably won't) they might offer. But I think it will be too late at that point to get Teague.

Of course I could be wrong and they offer Teague soon. As another poster said, osu told him they want to come watch him practice. Who knows what will happen then.

Theynrun more buck sweep power stuff then we do... but in all honesty there isn't much difference.... however we want Kelly type backs... one cut go... oh and mark this down.... Kelly will have a really big year.... like real big.... best back in the SEC type year if he stays healthy...

I've come to realize that with all of the constant jokes we make about BaldBiker, he's probably just slowly making a list of which of us he's going to kill.
