'18 TN RB Master Teague

I'm just saying the talent is there and they have the right OC/DC in place for LSU to have that type of season. I'm not predicting they will, because I'm not bullish on coach O and it also wouldn't surprise me if he finds a way to royally f*** up a situation where just about any HC in the SEC could turn on autopilot and coast to at least 9 wins.

They lost a lot of guys, but they'll be strong in the trenches as usual and the way they recruit (top 7 ever year since 2013 with 2 top 5 classes) means they'll have as much talent on the field as any opponent not named Alabama.

He lost the little confidence I had in him when Florida beat them at home last year. Dominated the game but choked on plays in red zone 5 damn times. He is nowhere near a 10 win coach.

To be fair though, he wasn't working with a full staff at that time. He'll have Canada calling the shots on offense from now on. That's basically why I think they have a chance at a 10 win kind of season. If he can let his OC/DC do their thing, they should have success.

That game made me lose confidence in him as a HC mostly because of how seemingly flat LSU was for that game. They had every reason to play out of their minds, but blew it.

They lost Fournette (Guide is probably just as talented), their top 2 WRs, and still a big ??? at QB. All in a new offensive system. The defense, as usual, will keep them in most games, but they lost a lot on that side too in K. Beckwith, Jamal Adams, Duke Riley, etc.

10 wins in the SEC west will be quite an accomplishment for Coach O. It's no guarantee and I'd even call it unlikely. I'd put the o/u at 9. Games @Miss St, @UF, @Bama, @TN, and @Ole Mess.

Aren't they stupid thin at LB, too?

Where's our resident corn-dog hiding?

Tennessee coaches spent a lot of time in the Midstate this week, evaluating top targets like Blackman tailback Master Teague and 2019 receiver Trey Knox. The Vols continue to make-up ground with Teague, as tailbacks coach Robert Gillespie has worked tirelessly to make Teague and his family feel comfortable. Both he and Walt Wells were by in the middle of the week. Auburn remains the favorite, but Tennessee is right there according to several folks close to the recruitment. While Ohio State and Georgia have been mentioned as darkhorse contenders, Clemson could actually be the real threat if the Tigers end up offering and pursuing Teague.

Today from Clemson Rivals site...

As we noted yesterday, co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott paid a visit Thursday afternoon to perhaps the most intriguing prospect in the candidate pool: Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Blackman's Master Teague.

Why the most intriguing? Because we believe he was the candidate Clemson's staff simply had the least feel for. Teague (5-11, 210) visited Clemson for its junior day in March, but he’s not someone the Tigers had been tracking closely through the fall or into the early part of this year. But there was reason to believe he was growing on Clemson, and we’ve opined he checked a lot of the boxes for what the Tigers look for both stylistically and in regards to personality fit.

Teague told TigerIllustrated.com after Elliott’s visit that he plans to sit down with his parents next week to map out his plan going forward. He contacted Elliott on Thursday evening for feedback and thought Clemson walked away impressed.

Auburn is viewed as the leader over South Carolina and Georgia. Ohio State and Clemson both loom as potential offers, while Notre Dame put its name in the hat Wednesday night.

Teague said there are a couple of unspecified schools he might want to visit before advancing his decision in June. He believes Clemson’s priority right now is Laurinburg (N.C.) Scotland County five-star Zamir White. Teague said Clemson isn’t too late, but the Tigers would have some work to do if offered. “They would definitely be a team to consider,” he said.

Not even a mention of UT. hmmm

Been saying this - I don't think Teague is a must get

Gillespie seems to be turning up the heat though, so I'm not sure the staff agrees. I think they'd love to get Teague, but he isn't the must get that Trey Smith and Tee Higgins were last year. We do still have some strong alternatives on our list as well in the event he heads out of state. A point we may agree on, I don't think they'd turn down a commitment from someone like Lyn-J Dixon to wait on Teague (perhaps because they are different types of backs).

I'm amazed at all the hype Master Teague seems to be getting. They are talking like OSU and Clemson are about to offer him, granted as a 2nd RB in their classes but still. Is he really an elite can't miss type guy or is he being over-recruited? I must be missing something here.

He's really good. Some are in denial about his talent because they realize he probably isn't coming here

I'm not in denial, but he's not really rated that high on any of the sites relative to the schools coming after him and I mean his film is good, but elite? Not so sure about that. Also, thought it was interesting that "faith" is supposedly a big deal to the family and his decision and that is why they really want a Clemson offer and why Auburn (because of Malzahn? ) leads. Is Gus one of those Freeze / Dabo types?

Didn't say he was elite. Just said I think he is really good and obviously coaching staffs around the country do as well. I'm curious as to why recruiting sites are down on him. No idea on Gus.

That "faith" deal is weird to me for the same reado. Dabo and Freeze are both phonies that run dirty programs.

Agree, but we don't get to know them on a personal level like these recruits and their families do. So, I can see how a college coach who is so open and outspoken about his faith, even if he skirts the rules, can really leave an impression on a kid and his parents who are turning their son over to him to be "raised" during an impressionable period in their lives.

Freeze's legacy and perceived moral compass has been tainted a bit since being caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Dabo has remained unscathed to this point, but he'll meet a similar fate if he keeps up the reported misdeeds.

I learned long ago to not put much stock in a coach's morality/religion. At some point, they are on too big a stage to not disappoint you. They aren't perfect, and if held to a higher standard, they will inevitably let people down.

I am sure there will be a bunch of comparisons. He reminds me of Mike Davis, the former back for S.Car. in his size and style.

I don't believe any sincere Christians "sells" their faith for personal gain. Some will disagree, but my thoughts on Freeze have turned out to be confirmed. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging your faith, but to use it as a selling point in recruiting is loathsome to me. Strikes me as being for vain glory or filthy lucre's sake.

Kinda don't want him. What kind of kid says you know if they offer I'll listen but they'll have to show me how much they want me? Spoiled. Send him packing.

Where did he say that? His actual quote was "I'll listen". The author added his own opinion.

Maybe it does not matter, but does he know that Malzahn is a practicing Wiccan?

Also..I'm nit trying or wanting to bash this kid, but surely him and his parents are not that naive? I mean go wherever you want to go, but I don't get making a big deal about wanting a faith and family friendly atmosphere, and then head to Sodom and Gomorrah.
