'18 TN RB Master Teague

I'm starting to wonder if I even want him here. As good as he is, he is treating us as a second rare school. If these guys are to be believed, we are way behind these other schools if OSU or Clemson offers, or if Ga gets White. I mean, if you don't want to go to the home state school and represent, I don't like being the leftovers. If he commits tomorrow I'll be excited, but I hope these guys are wrong that we are hosnfall back option basically

its not left overs if you keep fighting to be in it. Its called winning a recruiting battle. Butch has done it before.

We didn't win if Ohio State and Clemson don't offer, and GA gets White and he doesn't want to play with him, and we're the fallback option

At the end of the day instate guys either want to play for the home team or they don't. You gotta show 'em some love, yea, but if you do that and they still display wayward eyes then it's going to be a problem. Teague may want to play for one or two teams that have been in the championship picture recently--which the Vols cannot claim--and so it's a status thing. Or he just wants to be flattered by them and really is a loyal Tennessean. We gonna find out. The religion/faith angle seems like a bunch of nonsense. I can't believe any recruit would fall for that BS.

Well, plenty have, so I'd suggest considering it a real possibility.

I'm sorry, but impeccable character and UM do not belong in the same sentence. Not after his shenanigans at UF.

Impeccable character and Urban Meyer is an oxymoron like "Jumbo Shrimp" - or "Bama writer"....right?

The so-called "Fulmer Cup" really should be the "Meyer Cup"... When recruiting against OSU, we need to emphasize how many of his players have been in trouble with the law. Not just Aaron Hernandez; but all of them. If we are losing recruits to Meyer over piety, then that's on us for not trying very hard to combat it. We have a ton of ammunition to work with.

It's a win anyway we can get him. The biggest recruiting get in the history of this program was a guy who probably came here because Ole Miss was on probation. 23 years later I'm still calling it a win.

"It boils down to how colleges run their offenses," Corey said. "At some programs, it is great to have two running backs so one guy is not getting beat up all of the time. Some schools, Tennessee might fall in that category, to where you might be able to have one guy in there most of the time because they do spread it out more. Carries would not be what you would see if maybe you were at Georgia.

"So, it is great to have two backs so you can get breaks and not have your body get torn up by the end of your career. It is a good thing to have help, so that is something we definitely talked about."

Early playing time is not a factor, according to Mr. Teague.

"As far as playing early, Master is a competitor," Corey said. "If he plays early, he does. If he does not, he would probably play his sophomore year. He is not one to sit back and not compete. Playing early or not playing early did not play a role because of his work ethic and competitive history. But making sure there are people in the running back room who can help him when he does become the bell cow for the team was important."

The in-state Volunteers have made arguably the biggest push for Teague, according to Master and his father.

"I think the culture at Tennessee is one that could be good for Master," Corey said. "I look at Coach Jones and Coach Gillespie and they are pretty solid guys. The other staff around them as well. I do not want to leave out Coach Scott or Walt Wells - they seem to care for their players and provide an opportunity for a young man to do his best, to learn the game, so I do believe that seemed to be an environment that was promising."

Two trips have been made to Auburn and Georgia, but Teague's father said several more have been made to Knoxville.

"With those two visits, you get enough information," Corey said. "So we basically decided there was really no need to go back. Phone calls and communication continue, but with what we have I think we will be able to make a good decision."-247

I am kind of torn here. If we really are like his fourth choice, that seems a pretty tough pill to swallow. I also don't get the love for Urban. To me, it is clear that he is sleazy. In the end, if we get him, he will likely say he wanted to be here all along and if he ends up here, I guess that's a good thing.

Sleazeball or not, he's gotten lots of kids drafted, gotten his team to 2/3 CFB Playoffs, is one of the top 3-4 coaches in CFB in terms of job security. Can't say anything close to that for any of the SEC teams after him (unless he gets a Bama offer).

I hate Urban as much as anybody, but I get why kids would want to play for him at OSU.

He got the ultimate choir boy to commit in Tebow. Urb knows how to sell it.

There's no doubt he's a great coach and recruiter. I will admit that I am very biased, too. I hated OSU before he got there and I hate them even more now.

I know what you mean. If I had been blessed with the size and athleticism of a 4-5 star athlete, I can't see any scenario where I'd have chosen to play for that school or coach.

But I do try to put myself in other people's shoes and look at things from their perspective when I can (not that I'm always successful lol) and I can see why he would appeal to some.
