'18 TN RB Master Teague

the best at two different positions in the NFL.

Peyton
Reggie White
Witten is not going to be too far down the list, either

He doesn't want to talk about that though.

Haha yes!

Did I say Rb only or draft pk producers? Stop being so sensitive and taking things so personal. He has multiple NFL guys out there playing on Sundays, and 3 1st rd picks and 7 over all this past draft. In 2016 he put out 12 overall and 5 1st rd picks I understand the 6 pks from this year for UT, and hope that continues. But ppl lets be rational tOSU is churning out guys yr in and yr out. They have been in the playoff, a NC in 14, and they also know of the HC and his success at UF, BG, etc. The kids today look at whats hot, who's winning and contending for NC, and if they hv a chance to win there. All the fandom is usually not the case for concern with them. UT has a good staff and all I hope all the changes makes things get to where they need to be, but in recruiting right now they're just not a tier 1 school for many guys. They're definitely closing the gap but they have to stop squandering the east title and win convincingly not with lucky hail marrys etc. The talent is definitely there and its not close in he East between UT and Fla its been coaching and kids see that. Ppl spk on Aub and UGA i agree but they've won and hv celebrity alumns like Cam and Gurley who kids know and love to watch. UT most reputable alumn to date is still Peyton whonis retired and 40 yrs old. Now do you all understand w/o bias?
I don't see why people can't see this.

I hate OSU and Meyer as much as the next guy, but it's not hard to understand why Teague might wanna play there over UT.

"It's hard for UT to get over the hump if these talented in-state kids don't begin to feel like they can get on board and help us get there."

Exactly right! Something has been missing here for a long time. It baffles me why any kid in the state of TN. isn't drooling to come and play for the Vols. We've got to find a way to make them huge Vol fans at an early age. I love when a kid says he grew up loving the Vols and it's his dream to play for them. Whats really disheartening is to see kids in the shadow of Neyland not even be interested in coming.

The way is to win meaningful games, which we haven't done during most of these kids lives. These players don't know the 90's Vols. Until we can get back to consistently competing for SEC Championships, we will see this.

That hasn't stopped us from landing In State studs before?

It is an attractive option. However, if loyalty, relationships, and family is important then why go to the school that slow played you and hasn't been involved for very long. If relationships are important, then OSU should be closer to the bottom. We certainly don't know the full situation but it seems like OSU has been using him like a backup plan. Oh well. Kids make their decisions for reasons we could never understand. We'll see what he chooses soon.

And they already have 2 stud RBs in their class.

That being said about OSU, I still like our chances based off of what Blaze has said TBH.

The timing kind of points to OSU coming off that offer, but it's obvious none of the recruiting guys really know what he'll do

Agreed. I like our chances.

I just don't agree with those who seem baffled as to why he might choose OSU over UT

I understand OSU. I don't understand Georgia who we beat the last two years and has a new and questionable coach and staff right now. Gus was almost fired last year so do not understand that. Teague stated what he wanted and a lot of it is there at OSU but not everything. Why not go to Alabama or Clemson then? Urbs produces pros but RB is very much where Masters focus should be. If he was a DB, then heck yeah. OSU is porducing those like hot pancakes at a football fund rasier. Teague is a running back. Opportunity is at UT and if he is really good, he would get drafted.

He can practice his faith at any school he wishes. I know he is big and fast and has great potential. He could be a good NFL back but if he's not, the world could still be his oyster if he is a VOL and wants his future life to be in this area. Otherwise, if he is not, he will be in Ohio for the rest of his life. I have been to that area a lot and it is not a great place to live.

You have one or two instate players each year that seem to not have any real interest in playing for the home state. Last year it was the dB from the boro, can't recall his name (see, he's already a distant memory). We'll survive this and get a just as talented running back. If he doesn't choose the Vols I doubt I'll be able to recall his name this time next year either.

OSU is a great program and I'm not baffled by it at all. However, if the guy has stressed the importance of things like loyalty, recognition of talent, and longstanding relationships all throughout his recruitment, it does seem a bit like talking out of both sides of your mouth to pick a team that basically slow-played him and offered at the last minute.

I love the in state kids who are looking to build things here. As good as talent is increasing in state, you still have better talent in Florida and Georgia. Keep getting those guys with the Tennessee kids who have talent, we will be fine. Master would be great and is in state but if he goes North, we will get some good talent like Chandler last year or Dixson ect. UT will be fine and so will Ohio State. Master will make his decision and good luck to him regardless. However, we will continue to build UT and will reach Tier 1 level and guys who were with us when we were down will be remembered and those mentors who would then want to be our big buddies who stabbed UT in the back, will be remembered as well. GBO!

C'mon man. You are biased against UT and it's obvious. UT just had a great draft and we've churned out some high profile stars even during our downtime (the afore mentioned Berry and Foster as examples). OSO has been better, no doubt, but not to the level you speak. And using GA and AU as examples is just bad form and foolish on your part.

One thing to keep in mind is basically all that info we've gotten has been from a 3rd party. I appreciate Blaze for bringing what he knows, but Teague has played his recruitment close to the best. There's no way to know what he and his family have really been thinking.

It's also noteworthy that the info volatil has brought concerning Teague (though admittedly further from the family than Blaze claims to be) hasn't been very positive about our chances for a while now.

It's easy for me to get swept up emotionally when it comes to football (anybody who was here for the Vandy game last year knows that lol), but I always try as much as I can to take a step back and look at things from as neutral a perspective as I can manage when it comes to recruits. They're making decisions based on their future and there's no way for us to know for sure all the factors that go into their choices.

Here is the other thing that really has me thinking. I saw earlier in this thread where they said he had to commit on the spot or they were moving on. It was like I was told by my parents, if someone pressures you into a major decision, then leave as quickly as possible. If they say it is on the table now but if you walk out without saying yes, then the opportunity is gone, by all means, WALK OUT. If that was accurate about him having to commit on the spot, that is even more disrespect for him to not be more valued to take a little time to be sure of his decision. Probably the most important one he has ever had to make that could affect his entire life. If what we have heard about this family is true, then no way he goes there. Auburn or Georgia maybe but not OSU. I say his choice is going to come from this top 3 and I hate to think this, but I think it is Auburn. However, that would be better than Georgia.
