but that swing pass tho................
that'll be a good early test this season....have we fixed our inability to complete a swing pass?
lol.
JG has been bad but weren't Joey Mathews and Burney Veazey starters at some point too?? They were worse than JG imo. Also, coming from a 43 year old Vol fan
and as bad as that was, we may find ourselves looking back at that game as a necessary evil. i think cjp learned a lot that day.....and i think this team in particular will have a very relevant reference point to look back on when preparing for this season.I knew we were in for a long day after that botched play. The entire team slept walked through that game. Easily the worst performance I have ever witnessed by the Vols.
Yes Crompton was so BAD he couldn't read progressions but half the field. I remember being in a qb mtg and Kiffin and Chaney saying 1 progression 2 progressions and throw it away. They were drawing up plays to simplify them. But his TE was just as BAD and had no clue either. So Frank Wilson gives a test during pre-game mtg and says what's you route or something like that. Warren has the paper upside down and said coach you're trying to trick us because this is not a play we run because I don't know these routes. That win vs UGA was obnoxious. He played with half the field. It was a simple but effective gameplan by Kiffin.
Dude you need to rewatch some games, he missed SSSSOOOOO many easy touchdown completions to Callaway, DWA, and Jennings, and btw if we didn't have a down the field threat then why did Callaway avg. 21.2? As far as EG being undersized.... since when is a 200-205 pound back undersized? No he's not a bruiser but he certainly ain't Darren Sproles sized. Good try on your argument though.Lol, what weapons did we have? We didn't have a burner at WR to cause any fear at all of stretching defenses and our running game produced less than 150 yards/gm, I fail to see where 2 possession type receivers and an undersized Fr running back count as offensive weapons. Speed is a weapon and we didn't have much of it last year and certainly didn't have any playmakers the 2 seasons before that.

The true Vols that want to win are all neverJG guys, if you like L's in the Win/Loss column then you root for JG, that's how I look at itI've never made an excuse for JG. I'm not running out of anything, it's you neverJG guys that continue to try and lay everything off on him. It's getting old and the fanbase is starting to get tired of the neverJG guys.
I dont know man. Worley was pretty bad.
That's pretty stupid. So only true Vols are the ones willing to root against an actual true Vol that's on the team and taken hits for Tennessee? I pull for all the guys on the team to be successful. Preferring one player to start over another one is fine, but saying people who root for JG are not true Vols easily qualifies as one of the most moronic things ever posted on this forum. Congrats. The true Vols that want to win are all neverJG guys, if you like L's in the Win/Loss column then you root for JG, that's how I look at it
I think he learned that you can never treat any game as a developmental and evaluation practice...it was really dumb, no denying that, but I guarantee you it never happens again. If we played thatand as bad as that was, we may find ourselves looking back at that game as a necessary evil. i think cjp learned a lot that day.....and i think this team in particular will have a very relevant reference point to look back on when preparing for this season.
That is a really dumb statement..I am not a JG guy, but if he can turn it around...I would be love to see it...I don't think he can, or that we will ever see it, but I would love to.The true Vols that want to win are all neverJG guys, if you like L's in the Win/Loss column then you root for JG, that's how I look at it
Yeah that's lacking the context of the situation.Pruitt has a different approach to JG/QBs. He’s said many times he thinks it’s good for QBs to sit a series or two and then come back in.
It’s odd, different and something hopefully he only does with JG but he’s been clear JG is the guy he wants in the game at the end with the game on the line. I’d say that is “believing in him”
I said true Vols that WANT TO WIN, if you want to shoot some cookie cutter bull, that's fine but I never said you weren't a true Vol, but I for one, am sick of losing, I don't even have the fond memories of being good in the 80's or 90's to fall back on I was 4 the last time we won a Natty and probably 7 the last time we were actually GOOD, I've lived the majority my life being abused by anybody I know who roots for Alabama, Georgia and Florida and I for one am sick of it, the kid hasn't shown me he can play so until he does I'll be rooting for him to sit on the bench and enjoy the perks of having a D1 scholarship. That's pretty stupid. So basically you feel the same you just won't go far enough to be considered a neverJG guy? I defended him for a long time, too long honestly, because I had respect for his toughness and effort, but eventually that doesn't cut it for me, and that improv at the goal line when we were RIGHT in that Bama game with a chance to possibly win it sealed his fate in my book, unless he wins the Heisman next year I'm going to be rooting for someone else to be under center cause Guarantano just isn't the answer, even you admit you feel that wayThat is a really dumb statement..I am not a JG guy, but if he can turn it around...I would be love to see it...I don't think he can, or that we will ever see it, but I would love to.
I love good redemption stories, and that would be an all-timer.
agreed. i actually think they did a really good job of managing that whole situation, all things considered.Yeah that's lacking the context of the situation.
I dont think his approach is an idea on QBs in general. It was based on his QB situation at the time. If JG is playing like an experienced RS JR last year hes not getting pulled for an unproven FR multiple times during the season.
Pruitt and Chaney did the best they could with the position based on the fact they didnt have a good option.
