'19 CA QB JT Daniels (Georgia commit)

Lol, what weapons did we have? We didn't have a burner at WR to cause any fear at all of stretching defenses and our running game produced less than 150 yards/gm, I fail to see where 2 possession type receivers and an undersized Fr running back count as offensive weapons. Speed is a weapon and we didn't have much of it last year and certainly didn't have any playmakers the 2 seasons before that.

Not sure what you watched but Calloway was as much of a college speed guy as you needed. Jennings was very effective. The young guys were very serviceable, but DWA play was sketchy at best. I was around and saw Jennings and Calloway very frustrated after games and hv to be calmed down. DWA though I don’t know why he wasn’t used more with such a bad qb but he became frustrated too with JG.

No way. IIRC Georgia St. started playing football in 2008. UMASS and Army's programs are older than rocks.

Eh - Georgia State, while much newer than those programs, has an immensely bigger talent pool to draw from than UMASS and Army and has been at the FBS level for 7 years which is enough time to have a full roster of FBS-quality players.

Where do Tee and Kelly’s numbers rank, relative to other QBs of that era? Where does JG’s rank relative to his contemporaries? That’s what should be used if you’re comparing eras.

Honest question I don’t know.

It’s a good question but a no brained because bin that era the RBs were the focal point of the offense in pro style. With Andy we had a stable and likewise with Tee. Wit JG this is a chunk and dunk offense era where qbs everywhere throw it around the yard for such great stats that ppl are surprised when they aren’t good in the pros

I guess we can agree both losses were bad? We did beat UMASS in 2017.

I said true Vols that WANT TO WIN, if you want to shoot some cookie cutter bull, that's fine but I never said you weren't a true Vol, but I for one, am sick of losing, I don't even have the fond memories of being good in the 80's or 90's to fall back on I was 4 the last time we won a Natty and probably 7 the last time we were actually GOOD, I've lived the majority my life being abused by anybody I know who roots for Alabama, Georgia and Florida and I for one am sick of it, the kid hasn't shown me he can play so until he does I'll be rooting for him to sit on the bench and enjoy the perks of having a D1 scholarship.
There are at least four games Tennessee loses last season without JG. His flaws are obvious but they've been magnified by an inconsistent (but improving) supporting cast. Reality is that he could be the starter this season and I'm willing to see how his second year under Chaney has affected him before chalking up any automatic loses. I don't understand the mindset of rooting against any of the players.

Worley was a prime example of how dumb Butch was. Damn idiot was trying to run spread/ read option with a pocket qb who was not an athletic. Another wasted talent who was put in a bad situation bad an idiot coach who also used a OL who was a natural C at LT. Anyone who knows OL guys makeup knows there is no way a C play OT let alone LT.

Spot on in all regards. Anybody that saw the amazing game Worley played against the Clowney led D in HS would understand the talent the kid had. Felt more sorry for him than almost any player who has ever worn the Vol uni. In the top 10 stupid list would also be the Coleman Thomas move from C to T as a true freshman against Oklahoma. Frickin idiot of a coach.

Better team than either of my examples at the time played. Yale won national championships when Teddy Roosevelt was president. Who would you take in a Yale/GSU matchup?

Dunno probability is so low Teddy May turn into a zombie first. Both losses sucked.

And Spurrier never recruited the SC kid even tho his Fun & Gun would seem ideally suited? Damn good HS player...not so much translation at the next level. Million similar stories out there.

Wasn't Worley throwing to C. Patterson in HS?
For a season or so iirc. I remember watching some Worley games in high school...aforementioned game against Clowney’s squad included. He knew how to spread it around but he was prone to mind farts and his accuracy/decisions were hit and miss during pressure situations.

Yes Crompton was so BAD he couldn't read progressions but half the field. I remember being in a qb mtg and Kiffin and Chaney saying 1 progression 2 progressions and throw it away. They were drawing up plays to simplify them. But his TE was just as BAD and had no clue either. So Frank Wilson gives a test during pre-game mtg and says what's you route or something like that. Warren has the paper upside down and said coach you're trying to trick us because this is not a play we run because I don't know these routes. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂 need to hear more of these! We need a de1 story time!

Fair enough, I'm not rooting against him personally as much as I'm rooting for him not to be the starter, who knows he could prove me wrong but I highly doubt it, I think some of what I said was a little misconstrued or I misstated what I meant in my rant, I'm just ready for someone else to get a shot because I'm tired as any Vols fan out there of losing, heck, what feels like the best season I've experienced is literally '16 and we didn't even win the east

It doesn't matter if Spurrier didn't his list was much better than SCe. The kid had Ga, Fla, Fla St, LSU, Clemson, etc

Come in Dejuan...we know about “offers”. Remember that Connecticut QB who actually COMMITTED to us? There’s a reason Dooley landed Worley, and it wasn’t wresting em always from those programs. Something about tires and kicking and recruiting.

Gimme Iceman Clausen any day... he wasn't necessarily the best QB, but when the lights came on, he was ready to rumble no matter what the situation. He was a great game time QB that had the moxy and enough skills to back it up. He'd get us out of bad situations time and time again.
3-1 vs the Gators. Those were some good times
