bryce benhart visited tennessee for the first time earlier this month to attend the vols’ first spring scrimmage, and they made a strong first impression on him while he was there. He didn’t wait long to make the trip again. The four-star junior offensive tackle from lakeville (minn.) north high school used his first official visit last weekend to return to tennessee for its spring-ending orange and white game, and his father told govols247 that they like the vols for multiple reasons.

Gene benhart didn’t tip his hand on exactly where tennessee might stand among his son’s favorites. But he said they have been impressed by “the football tradition” the vols have “and the support to get the program back to the top.” the father of the 6-foot-7, 285-pound benhart said they also like the “academic support” and first-year vols coach jeremy pruitt’s staff — including offensive line coach will friend and strength and conditioning coach craig fitzgerald — along with the way pruitt “handles himself on and off the field.”

after first traveling to tennessee the weekend of april 7, bryce benhart decided to make the trip again because “the timing of the visit was just at the right time,” his father said. “the boys and i got some personal stuff done the weekend before,” gene benhart said. “they asked and bryce wanted to see more.” the elder benhart said they “spent a lot of time” during their official visit to knoxville talking with friend, pruitt, running backs coach chris weinke — a minnesota native — and offensive coordinator tyson helton, “along with their wives and families.”

gene benhart said pruitt's staff told him about “the plan to turn tennessee around” and “the support from the administration,” and the vols made it clear they could use his help on their offensive line. “bryce has the tools they look (for),” the elder benhart said of his son, who’s ranked by 247sports as the no. 142 overall prospect and no. 18 offensive tackle in the 2019 class. “all the coaches we have spoken with have said pretty much the same: Bryce is a (tackle) and will have the opportunity to compete for a position. He will play when he is ready to. It will all depend upon him.”

a few teams might be standing out to bryce benhart and his family at this point, gene benhart didn’t offer any hints. "bryce has a few he likes better than some others,” the elder benhart said. With their first official visit now behind them, gene benhart said his son might be ready to decide on a college within the next few months. “if all the stars align, he will make the decision before the summer ends,” gene benhart said.

I think this guy might be as good as any OT that we are after so good that if we somehow pulled off Wright, Morris, and him that Morris would be a guard.

Ha. Those three with lampley would be a decent class.

We can only hope. If we get 2 of the 3 plus Lampley, it would probably be the best OLine class that Tennessee has landed in my lifetime. We Seem to get 1 good lineman every year or every other year and that leaves us with 2 good lineman and 1 young talented lineman who is playing too early every year.

Steelers drafted mason Rudolph. Effectively ending dobbs' chances at his hof career.

And hoisting the Lombardi trophy this season. Of course he can still do that...just not as the starter. :)
