19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

I'm not giving up my guns any time soon, but why does the Constitution specifically mention well regulated militia?

I'm trying to understand every angle of this so I can do something other than stare blankly at people when this part of the discussion comes up.

There’s plenty of context shared by the writers if you care to look it up.

Also: all schools in New Orleans are charter or private. For those who discussed the desire to eliminate school violence by eliminating public schools, it still happens.

And that's sad.

Has nothing to do with federal or state oversight. As Scalia wrote in his opinion well regulated means if they are going to own the firearm then know how to use it and maintain it. You’re welcome.

(Why is Ash so weird and seem so flippety floppety on some subjects? Because he's on the autism spectrum and has no responsibility to make sense to anyone but himself)

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA v. HELLER

You can read the whole thing if you desire but discussion of the prefatory vs operative clause basically opens the discussion.

and @AshG nobody attacked the school in NOLA, some attendees of the graduation got into a fight outside near the place they were holding the graduation.

1 dead, 2 wounded as gunfire erupts near high school graduation in New Orleans

All three victims were there for graduation ceremonies before they were shot outside, police spokesman Gary Scheets said.

"There was a fight that broke out, apparently between two females in the parking lot" which led to gunfire, NOPD Deputy Superintendent Chris Goodly told reporters.

Hear me out. Rather than that, start over. All guns must be turned in. But, you can apply and go through a background check, show proof of insurance for the gun, demonstrate safe keeping, and you get your gun back.

Anyone keeping an unlicensed gun gets a minimum of 10 years in prison for each gun they retain illegally.
Yeah 👌! Convince the bloods, crips and MS-13 to do it. Then MAYBE the rest of the wanna bes will follow suit. Then you gotta convince the cartel as well that your president is opening our doors for. Then you gotta convince us all that criminals don’t have guns anymore. Good luck with that! We actually HAVE common sense. If you truly wanted these school shootings to stop, y’all would get on board with putting military vets in the schools and all of sudden, school shootings are a thing of the past THE MOMENT that happens.

Hear me out .. all attorneys shall have their license to practice revoked immediately. Any reapplication will come with a background check of all social media , friends , family and coworkers . If any applicant is found to be guilt of trying to undermine the constitution, they will be publicly flogged in the largest sports venue nearest to where the violation took place .
I would go for disbarred given the fact that the constitution is what they’re SUPPOSED to work under. The hell with humiliation. I want that license to practice

The Founding Fathers openly fought with each other and interpreted parts of the Constitution differently. We are we so addicted to forcing people into a single interpretation instead of doing the hard work of learning to meet each other in the middle?

It's legal Fundamentalism.

You know what you were told about the founding fathers. In a world where they openly teach CRT and only the parts of our history that would divide us, I think it’s worth questioning everything we’ve ever been thought.

There is no middle. If you give the left an inch they try to take a mile. The best policy is to fight them tooth and nail every step of the way.

If I could, I wish I could bring you on school tours when I'm making my student teacher observation rounds. I'd park you right in the front row of a history/social studies class and let you see for yourself how wrong you are.
