Did you lose a leg? You were in the military right?
You know what man? I’m going to treat you the same way you treat me on here. I got nothing for you anymore so here it is. That’s what “I” was taught back in the 5th grade.
Try and keep up with what you involve yourself in. If your comprehension is low, embrace it. This conversation started when I told someone that history lessons changed over the years. History is what they teach you and it’s not everything that happened. So don’t be naive thinking you know it all as you so desperately try to convince everyone. I’ll give you credit where it’s due and you know your history. However, you only know what you were taught from class and/or books. You, I, nor anyone else on this board was there the days leading up to the constitution. So claiming you “know” something you don’t only makes you look gullible when you understand that you only know what they wanted you to know.
We may not always agree but I’m really sorry to hear that. I’ll crack a leg joke from time to time to make you feel better. .I wasn't in the military; they tend to not take 6'8 behemoths. I would have loved to have served my country as a member of the Marine Corps.
I lost my right leg in 2013 to septic shock. An infection got in my foot through a cut, then got in my bloodstream and went crazy. I almost died several times, and my wife had met with the chaplain and palliative care nurses to make final arrangements.
He's credited with discovering "the New World", setting off European exploration of the Western hemisphere. Of course, many historians now believe the Vikings were visiting North America long before Columbus ever set sail on his voyage. If Columbus didn't discover America, why is there a Columbus, OH?
And there were many more personal writings for each of them that we’ll never see.Not insulting anyone's intelligence, but we do have the personal writings of some of the Founding Fathers who were there, so we do have insight into the process and what they were thinking.
Hear me out. Rather than that, start over. All guns must be turned in. But, you can apply and go through a background check, show proof of insurance for the gun, demonstrate safe keeping, and you get your gun back.
Anyone keeping an unlicensed gun gets a minimum of 10 years in prison for each gun they retain illegally.
Go to St Augustine and they’ll tell you it was Ponce. It was actually Menendez. But this is a great example of my argument. For some reason they wanted us to believe it was Ponce. So that’s what they thought even though it wasn’t truePonce de Leon led the first known expedition to Florida. A believe it was a Spanish admiral that founded St. Augustine. It wasn't Ponce de Leon.
But we do know some of the bad. MLK was a womanizer that cheated on his wife. And we know some of the good, Hitler developed lots of infrastructure in Germany, including the Autobahn. When it comes to history, there's what you're taught, and then there's what you care to learn by exploring for yourself. You can't just assume that everyone has stopped at what they're taught. Some continue to educate themselves. And there were many more personal writings for each of them that we’ll never see.
Let me try this another way.
If I wanted to portray you as a great man after your death, I would only display the good side of you. But if I wanted to bury your legacy, it’s as easy as Cherry picking your words, writings and actions. For each POS we know about in history, there was a good side of that POS that we’ll never see. For each hero, there’s a not so good side.
Hitler for example- known for killing Jews. But what if they wanted the future to recognize his good side. Do we know he didn’t feed the hungry? No. Is it possible that he wasn’t the one calling the shots to kill the Jews? Yes. How many think our “president” now is just a puppet? (For the record, I don’t believe any of that chit. Dude sucked)
Martin Luther king- known for opening the door to African American rights. Do we know he never used the word “cracker”. No. Do we know he wasn’t a racist? No.
Point is, there was SOOOOO much more to their lives that we’ll never know. We only know what they wanted us to know. But if we had the details (the meat) off their lives, it would more than likely change the way we viewed each of them.
I've been to St. Augustine. I don't recall them saying Ponce de Leon founded the city. I do recall them continuing the myth that Ponce de Leon was seeking the Fountain of Youth.Go to St Augustine and they’ll tell you it was Ponce. It was actually Menendez. But this is a great example of my argument. For some reason they wanted us to believe it was Ponce. So that’s what they thought even though it wasn’t true
