19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

I have a Latina wife therefore my opinions on Hispanic and immigrant issues in the United States is more valuable than everyone else's!

But the left wouldn't accept it, because her opinion is not what they think it should be.
So the Democrats are going to be really disappointed if they think the citizens of Uvalde are going to give them the sound bites they want in response to this tragedy. Rural Texas town with a large Hispanic population. I don’t care if they vote Democrat or Republican they are all armed to the teeth.

If the reporting is true that this guy recently purchased 2 Daniel Defense rifles where ITH did he get $4 grand if poverty was one of his issues?

Been wanting their 300 blackout for awhile now but haven't wanted to drop 2k

I am not trying to be argumentative or sling insults here, but I feel like the mental illness deal is an excuse for his actions. I understand that people seriously deal with mental illness, but mental illness is constantly thrown out as somewhat of an excuse for mass shooter actions. I believe it has zero to do with their actions. They are full on cowards that can't deal with reality and create a false world in their mind where they will be "remembered" dead or alive after the event.

When something like this happens, the human mind attempts to protect itself by searching for the biggest separation points possible. The immediate reaction of asking "Were they an immigrant, illegal or not?", "Were they mentally ill?", "Were they LGBTQIA?", and similar questions in that vein is a check where the brain says "Good, this person / these persons are not in my demographic, so I don't have to worry about myself doing this."

It's not malicious or maligned. It's human nature.

From the stories I've seen, the shooter was angry about not graduating and took his frustrations out on the closest school he could find.

Yeah seriously, how does an unemployed, loser EMO teen about to fail HS, find the cash to buy those guns + a backpack full of ammo? He also supposedly had a handgun at the shooting. Where did he get money to buy all of this? Doesn't seem like it was his parents. Something doesn't add up here.

You'll know something's up if this just vanishes in the next week or so like the Vegas shooting.

And no one that is gay does the same. Existing is not the same as pushing an ideology, as you all are doing.

You said everyone has to describe their relationships. Maybe I didn't go back far enough to understand the context.

I agree with your 1st sentence, but not your 2nd.

Assuming people pray because they believe it has a causal effect, don't those people have to admit that it either doesn't work, or God just doesn't give a flying flip about mass shootings. Because the efficacy of prayer in this context is zilch.
You obviously do not have an understanding of what you are arguing against.

The point is that laws outside of traffic laws are reactive mostly and not preventative. If someone wants to kill their wife they will despite knowing it’s illegal. If someone wants to go in with a note and rob a bank they will. If someone wants to get an illegal gun they will. There are plenty of laws on the books now that “prevent” this but there are always ways around them even if you banned guns outright tomorrow. It’s a small percentage of criminals who commit gun violence with an even smaller percentage of guns used
I'm pretty sure more people would rob banks were it not illegal. Same with killing a spouse.
If it cost five dollars to get an illegal gun and they are available everywhere, I think more people would get one than if they are $5000 dollars and very hard to find.

Code Blue, Mike Magee. You have to wade through his hilariously bad macroeconomic opinion (he is a medical doctor after all, not an economist) but the nuggets of how things work in the political/academic/research structure are worth the sifting.

Thanks, I'll pick up a copy.

I know you’re pro 2-A but what I’m saying is
I’d like to see the stats on gun friendly zones that get shot up opposed to gun free and then let’s talk. But using NY as an example is just plain bad argument knowing they make it as hard as they possibly can on those people to get a gun in the first place. That shooter wrote a 180 page manifesto and in it he mentioned he chose NY because he’d be less likely to see return fire. Learned that Colion Noir. I’ll post the video if you’d like
94% in gun free zones, according to this

On the subject of school security and preventive measures:

I visit multiple schools, public and private, in the course of being a dad and supervising student teachers. Every school system we've been at, from Jefferson County (where I taught for 14 years) to the most rural systems in Western Maryland have had security systems in place that require you to identify by voice and image to be buzzed in, an entrance that goes into the office after classes start and you have to be buzzed to the other side, or both. Most had SROs (Petal, MS has its own hired officers with cars and uniforms). One township in Ottawa Co, MI requires people to fingerprint check in at a kiosk in the office.

Video released that was supposedly taken next door allegedly shows the shooter just opening the door and walking right into the front of the building.

I hope states can find the money to provide schools without these security systems an opportunity to install modern security measures. Done right, it's not that intrusive unless you're being anxious and trying to bypass it.

Yet the guns aren't the problem. The people who own the most guns commit less murders and less mass murders; they have far more guns than Canadians and/or UK citizens and yet they have similar homicide rates.

So why exactly should we regulate guns?

Yea, the “not graduating” was it. Keep fooling yourself.

Yeah, kinda interesting. So loser EMO hasn't been seen around for a couple of months, likely causing him to not graduate as well - and yet comes back with enough money to buy not just one but TWO rolls royce of assault rifles. He also has a truck and body armor and an iphone.

Also, he crashed his truck in front of the school supposedly after being chased. Why arent the cops on top of him before he runs in the school or just after?

Some things are not adding up here.
