'19 TN CB Woodi Washington

I haven't followed his play at all yet, but I have noticed a lot of their fans on the LSU premium boards seem to already be chalking him up as a bust. Surprised me.

Word was he wasn't hurt and still didn't play in the spring game if I heard correctly

You are exactly correct. There is no real good alternative which is why I said this is a tough line to toe.

I have the feeling we may be treating all three of the Murfreesboro kids the same because it's hard to ask one to camp or the others not to. JMO

If they're extending offers to other kids without requiring them to camp, then it would stand to reason they would do the same for any of these 3 kids if they rated them high enough. Apparently they have some concerns, questions or reservations on the entire group.

I don't know. If they want Washington regardless if he camps or not they may think if they treat them all the same they have a better chance to get Washington in the end and maybe the others if they decide to

Correct.

Everything I've read from the LSU side lines up with what Montrell said. At the moment, they are not expecting him to contribute. It is definitely surprising.

I got called out on here for saying he didn’t impress me in his playoff games last year. I just didn’t see the speed/quickness for WR/DB or the physicality for LB. Still think it’s probably early to call him a bust.

To me, it's a weak mindset of the Murfreesboro community and coaches to hold it against the Univ. of Tennessee to want the best players, and to want those best players to demonstrate their ability on campus at a camp against better competition than what Tennessee HS football has to offer. If kids are scared to compete for an offer at camp, what are they gonna do on the field vs Bama, UGA, or FL when it counts?

If that type of winner mentality and expectation of excellence from our staff burns bridges, then the Boro coaches can stay on their side and send their kids out west to Arkansas or Ole Mess. Coddling time is over with. Sack up and show out if you really want the offer. If not, we'll find someone else who isn't scared to compete.

Why camp when they can see you in pads during the Spring? And why would a kid camp with a legit Ohio State Offer at DB? Some guys yes they should camp but to the guys you say are a priority why should they have to compete for an offer when their Hudl backs them up? He wants Woodi to be more physical tackling right? How can he show that at a camp?

I understand it. Kids want to feel believed in. This kid has plenty of other schools telling him he is good enough for them without camping.

Then give them something to believe. I’m sorry these kids don’t feel believed in when they are playing against 5-10 wr from some school who is about to start working part time at the local grocery store after football is over with. Come here camp, play against someone worth a damn and go from there.

Why is it that big of a deal? If he wants the offer, go camp. If he doesn’t want the offer, don’t camp. It may not seem that simple to you but it really is that simple.

What if he is 50/50 on wanting to be a vol?

Having to camp could easily make him say F it

Washington is a competitor. He is always looking to improve himself. His Tennessee offer isnt contingent on camping but he probably will for the sake of wanting to be coached. He is an elite prospect. Pruitt is an elite DB coach. Real simple

Yeah this whole thing is ridiculous.

Why should they camp? Well, if they’re considering attending Tennessee, then they should because the head coach at this program wants them to.

Hell by breakerboys logic - why attend any of these recruiting service camps when the “hudle film backs them up?” They do it all the time.

I know it’s 2018 and everyone gets a trophy and everyone is entitled to whatever they want, but welcome to real life. Why take SAT’s when report cards back them up? Why go to job interviews when resumes and references back you up. If you want something, sometimes you have to do more to earn it. If you don’t, then don’t. Good luck at another program.

I meant that Woodi apparently is mad about having to camp

I personally think it's stupid to not camp especially if your a defensive player with this staff. The great ones want to learn and aren't offended by challenges. I mean it shouldn't be offensive to offer a kid to come compete and learn from Pruitt, Fair and Kelly.

Out of state kids, sure camp them. A kid in-state that you can go watch in pads at Spring Practice with ease. Nah especially if you like his Hudl film...

that's not the same as getting a kid on your campus with a bunch of other guys your evaluating and getting what you think as the head coach at TN is a true peer evaluation...

i'll just say this, if this 'to camp or not to camp' thing is a deal breaker for any kid FROM TN, then so be it.

i think Washington and Wilhoite are really good, and probably should be 'takes' by almost anyone. i think Knox and Otey probably don't have as many options as they'd like some to believe. both will play and both will go to school for free.

but we just got done with a coach that played this game, and it did not work out. i'll take the guys that want the competition at that level. no matter where they're from.

someone said it best...if they want to go to TN, they'll camp. if they don't, then they won't.

but i'd be a little surprised if guys like meyer and saban didn't want to camp them also. i mean, these camps aren't new.

too big a deal is being made about this imo.

Still don't think his offer is contingent on camping. I think staff just wants as many top players at camp to get a real idea of each player. it may be more about evaluating another kid by seeing how he does vs Washington
