'19 TN WR Shamar Nash

A chance to train and better yourself at a national football factory maybe. Why would you want to discourage a kid from doing that. If he goes there and still signs with us he will probably be a much better prospect than if he stayed playing lesser talent in Tennessee. I think his point about dooley/butch was that we shouldn't be afraid of losing a kid that goes there anymore because Pruitt can and will go into IMG and get players while the previous coaches couldn't do that.

UT just signed a guy from IMG so I don't know what throwing Dooley/Butch and some imaginary way of thinking into the conversation has to do with anything I said about this guys decision to attend IMG.

If anything it further proves his BVS for even bringing it up. Its already been said that he might want to go to IMG for better coaching, better competition, and bla bla bla. Why the need to parrot previous comments?

Such a flip flop bunch around here. One minute talking up all the talent in TN over the next few years. Then the next minute talk about leaving to play better competition. Lol

IMG plays elite teams and has advanced training and coaching. You shine there and you’re better prepared for the next level. It’s like magnet schools for students. The best want to play with the best. Happy for the kid, let’s get him and some of his new friends. :good!:

Ok dude. I guess you were insulted by his comment. My bad for getting in the middle of yer weird poster battle. Both of you can continue slinging insults at each other now. I was just pointing out what may have been his reasoning. But obviously I should have stayed out of it. On yer last point though I have never mentioned one thing about instate talent in TN before that post so not sure how I flip flopped. But if you think it's even close to the competition he would face at IMG then I don't know what to tell you. :eek:k:

I fully understand who schools like IMG, Mater Dei, American Heritage, De La Salle, ect are. That wasn't my argument. My point is that he is already a known player nationally. He doesn't need IMG for exposure. But if he is going to get better and recruit for UT I'm good with it. It makes me pause and think about the other aspect of maybe losing the potential of landing this kid.

That has nothing to do with some imaginary mindset that has been said about Dooley/Butch. It is what it is..

That how rumors get started. Find where I said you...

Never mind you have decided to remove yourself from it.

The talent in the state of Tennessee is getting better. It still does not compare to IMGs schedule which is a plays the best teams in every state. Also you are going up against some of the best players from multiple states in practice everyday. No public school in any states talent compares to IMG. I don't know what this has to do with talent getting better in Tennessee.

Anyone who gets upset with a young man going to IMG to better prepare himself for the next level is either a student/grad of that players HS or a selfish douche. Most are probably upset because it will be one less "top 300" player from our home state (that is where I fall. I love my home state.)

If he really loves Tennessee, he will come back home to play in college.

I mean a Memphis kid transferring to IMG for his senior season. It's painfully obvious that he is all Vol. I can't believe I had thoughts otherwise..

Thanks again guys.
Love the sarcasm...

A Memphis Central "kid" going to IMG seems like a no brainer.....Not sure how much coaching he's getting at Central anyway.....

Most of these kids already have the exposure. They attend to be better prepared to excel at the next level. IMG has a unique niche in that regard. Your other example are simply private schools that recruit...generally in their respective states. IMG is a sports academy. I really don’t think it hinders his recruitment. We’ll have coaches camped out at IMG anyway and we’ll be closer to his home when he’s on break.

Img when used right could be a good spot for talented players in bad areas and lack of support system. Not saying Nash has any of that because I have no clue. Saying in general when thinking of some of the Memphis schools

Why would an in state kid need more exposure if they were a UT lean? Get off your high horse and read your own post. This has nothing to do with Dooley/Butch. Its just common sense.

IMG plays on a national scene in pads. Much better competition than camps. There’s a thing called being called good and proving it. That move allows him to prove it. No problem with a kid seeking better competition and coaching.

Yup can’t blame the kid. The notion because he’s transferring to a school in Florida means he’s going to stay in Florida for college just isn’t true. IMG isn’t a high school it’s more of a minor league college. Their entire schedule is college like from class, practice, film study, nutrition, strength & conditioning.

Kids have no life there lol

“they most definitely made themselves a lot more relevant with the coaching change,” nash said, referring to tennessee’s hiring of new coach jeremy pruitt. “everything was smoky when the coaching change happened. But, for them to sit down and explain the importance of me possibly coming there, it made everything a lot more important with tennessee. It put tennessee back in the conversation. “i’ll most definitely be back down to knoxville.”

Nash said he “met with every single coach on the staff” during the visit, including pruitt and new wide receivers coach david johnson. “coach pruitt took time out of his schedule to meet with everybody (individually), and i think that’s really important," nash said. “that shows how much he cares and how hands-on he is with the people he’s recruiting — and the people that he already has. “the most important thing that stands out to me about coach pruitt is he don’t get recruits and then, when he gets them to the school, he treats them differently. He treats everybody the same as when he’s recruiting them, and i think that’s really important in the process.”

“they love it. They love it, for real,” nash said of carvin's and taylor’s first weeks with the vols. “i got a chance to speak with both of them. Actually, i talked with alontae when i first pulled up, and jerome went through the whole visit with me. “jerome is the biggest tennessee recruiter. He recruits harder than any coach they have on their payroll. He just loves tennessee, and it’s always been like that.”

while nash moved to florida a little more than a week ago to spend his final year of high school at img academy, he said “geography is not a factor at all” in his college decision. And he hasn’t forgotten that he received his first offer in march from the vols’ former staff. “regardless of where i am and what i have going on, i’m always going to consider tennessee because they were the first school to ever reach out to me,” he said. “they took a chance with me when i was nobody, so regardless of what happens and regardless of the things that i achieve in the future, i’ve got to keep tennessee close.”

Nash said he's going to commit soon, definitely before summer.
