2/9/11, Carolina vs. Duke: Round 1

I would say Duke is much more talented than UNC and it's really not even questionable. Both teams are streaky good and honestly, UNC's streak should be coming to an end soon. If Duke can get things rolling again, they could be the team to beat. If Curry, Dawkins, Smith and Singler can all start finding their shots at the same time, I don't know who can stop them thsi year. Even with Carolina at their best, I think Pitt, Nova, KU, Duke, maybe even Georgetown and tOSU (who i'm not sold on) can beat them. I would still bet the house that UNC will not be hanging a national title banner next season.

That's still just an OPINION. I will have to say yall are masters at dodging questions and giving deflecting answers.

Since you seem to be asking for stats...

Two of the best predictors for success are scoring margin and turnover margin. Duke destroys Carolina in both because they score more, give up less, turn it over less and force more turnovers. They also shoot a much higher percentage. And for all your talk of UNC's newfound shutdown defense, they've risen to 156th out of 335 D1 teams. Great job. I don't know how anyone ever scores.

Duke's role players sure made that great Carolina D look bad. Really bad. Seth Curry was on fire. Dawkins, Kelly and the Plumlees also all made big time plays for Duke.

Hats off. Better team won today. I would say "Good Luck" going forward, but my hypocrisy has its limits.

Why bother? Dude threw out Pom stats at me like it meant UNC plays defense, which is ludicrous. Sorry conference and a horrendous wide open shooting night made him believe in the crap.

Duke won but the refs helped. a lot.

Congrats!!! You have just completed all your requirements to be a full fledged UNC fan.

Duke is and has been the better team all year. It really never ceases to me to amaze me how much UNC fans ***** about the refs or injuries or suspensions when things don't go their way. Clearly UNC's 6 more FT attempts show that the referees were definitely in Duke's corner.

and Duke fans dont *****? right...

Duke played great today, glad to see the inside presence and see them control the game from start to finish. Good job today.

Thats probably a lie, you just didnt post your rants.

No, UNC played very well and Duke did not match their intensity. From the beginning it felt like UNC was in control. I got the same feeling today when I was at the game. This time about Duke. I said it last week:
Duke's better is better than Carolina's better. Carolina was lucky to even be in Gboro today. The ACC coach of the year failed to have his team ready to play for 3 straight days and today they got smoked.

I disagree.

Everything just went right for Duke.
Duke goes were Smith takes them.
8 at best.

Far from it, they just had everything go their way. They are FAR from great.

Look man, I get that UNC is your team and all and I hate to see my favorite team lose, it sucks. But to be honest you don't get beat by nearly 20 points if you played a solid game and the other team didn't. You don't get beat by nearly 20 points if the refs are bias towards the other team, 5 or 6 MAYBE and that's pushin' it. What I saw was a UNC squad that did the exact same thing they had done in the two previous days, that is come on the floor lazy in the first half, except that this time they did it against Duke and unlike Miami or Clemson they aren't just going to fold and give up the comeback because it was UNC.

I keep hearing you ***** about the refs and to be honest it doesn't matter you lost by a lot. On top of that UNC had no business playing in this game after the games they played the two previous days. UNC should simply be glad they won the reg season title and got a good seed.

I gotta agree with the other guy here. UNC has been good, there's no question but the way I look at it is this; They are playing beyond their talent level as of now. That speaks to Roy's ability to coach and in a year these kids will be giving everyone fits but THIS year, Duke is clearly the better team. Not liking it doesn't make it any less true. Also I agree Duke is not likely a Final Four team.

I wanted UNC to win, but I have to give Duke all the credit. They were the better team this year and beat UNC fair and square. I also feel the game was pretty well officiated. There were a few calls I feel went pretty badly against UNC, but that's something you have to expect when playing Duke. Strickland absolutely owned Singler on that dunk. Terrible call, but I'm not going to get started on that. Later on in the game Zeller gets mugged in the attempt to shoot, and then Singler pushes him to the ground. No call. I felt those were some awful calls but then again those few missed calls wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game. Duke outplayed UNC in almost every facet of the game.

Biggest blowout of any of the three games...on a neutral floor...and Carolina's better? Okay. I'm sure UNC is going past the Elite Eight too.

Actually no, I didnt pick Carolina to go all the way.

If Carolina had not collapsed in the first one round at Cameron we win the season series. We have better athletes and better talent. Duke is streaky and way to dependent on the three ball which will lead to a bracket busting early exit for most of the experts here on this board and around the country.

again everything just went Dukes way. When you bank a three off balance you just know its just night.
