2/9/11, Carolina vs. Duke: Round 1

Not sure what you're trying to say that I "want to be,"

It's not that difficult. Did you go to Duke? That's what I thought. Duke students usually aren't nearly as obnoxious as their wannabe clinger fans.

I spent two years at UNC for graduate school in the mid 70s. Carolina's main rival was State so it was possible to get a ticket to Cameron with my girl friend who was a student. She was from Durham. The rest of the Duke women were from Long Island and ugly as homemade sin. The Duke students were some of the smartest, cleverest, nasty and easily the most obnoxious fans in the country. I got to see UNC revenge an early season OT loss to Duke. The Duke students' spit seemed like a warm spring rain!

Watching Clemson and Duke right now, good to see some things never change... Dook fans are still the biggest a**holes in college sports.

I'll settle for the bragging rights.

That you split the season series? How would you have any bragging rights? Right now (and until Duke loses to UNC), Duke has bragging rights, but a season split means nothing. ACC Championship would give bragging rights, but of course that could be surpassed by a national title.

Regardless of it being "recognized" or not, a UNC win puts them in 1st place in the conference and top seed in the tourney. When basically every sporting event between the two schools is contested, it counts.

Also, part of your argument against UNC (or myself) having bragging rights includes Duke currently having those same bragging rights (win in most recent H2H matchup).

Only because Duke has won the past three match-ups and for at least another month is still the reigning national champion. The latter pretty much trumps all. A season split would make it all null and void though.

Maybe take a look at Maryland fans for that title. They are the most classless in the country. Good to see people hate "dook" just for the sake of hating them, no real reason.

This, though neither team is winning the national title this year barring a Kyrie Irving return.

Have any examples? Compared to their reputation, I think the Crazies are almost too tame now.

I disagree. While I (along with many others, including many around the Duke program according to reports) don't believe you'll ever see Irving wearing the Duke uniform again, it's a wide open NCAA tournament that either school could win. Duke could lose to UNC, lose in first round of the ACC tourney (unlikely) and could still conceivably back into a #1 seed with 5 losses. UNC could win out and play their way up to a #2 seed with 6 losses. Both have their flaws, but there isn't a dominant team in the NCAA this year.

Will still be playing after Duke goes home. Book that.

Ludicrous to say without seeing any bracket. They are a likely top seed, thus get a 16 and 8 or 9. Carolina won't and you have no idea what their matchups look like.

No less ludicrous than yall saying UNC won't win it all. Wide open field, in my opinion, and Duke is overly reliant on the three point shot. Doubt me on that? Look at their numbers in their losses.
