'20 TN SG Keon Johnson (Tennessee commit 8.6.19)

I would be very surprised to see Johnson at Ohio State. That being said, I've been surprised before.
People were surprised to see James here. If I recall nearly all the crystal balls were for Clemson.

Obviously, UT has been working this one hard. Home state doesn’t hurt. It’s interesting, because I doubt most people could tell you who OSUs head coach is. They’re just one of those schools who seem to be around even when they aren’t supposed to.

Ohio State bringing everyone makes me nervous over the perceived sure thing Johnson was to UT. They seem to be gaining momentum, or hope.

I read that as both Tennessee and OSU head coaches brought their staffs.

Me, too. The point I was getting at is the Ohio State people must feel they have a great shot, as well, if they are devoting these resources to him.

Well it’s not as though Keon Johnson is the only prospect there, I don’t know OSU’s board well enough but I would venture to guess they’ve got a few targets at that event...just as Tennessee does as well.

Nope, actually English and Schwartz with Barnes, Oliver is at EYBL.
Oddly curious, but perhaps a sign of confidence. Oliver was his main recruiter along with Lanier, who is obviously gone, now. If they feel confident enough to not send Oliver to watch less than a month out from his decision, that has to be taken as a positive.

On Thursday almost all of the Vols’ staff was in Birmingham where they were putting the full court press on Keon Johnson. Rick Barnes along with assistants Kim English and Michael Schwartz were prominent fixtures court side to watch Johnson play two games. As we noted on the board earlier, Virginia took a commitment on Wednesday which was the Cavs final scholarship to offer in 2020. That would seem to be a ‘lay down’ of sorts from Virginia, considered the strongest competition for Johnson. Ohio State remains in play, but it’s hard to consider them a strong contender given the history here. Now, Virginia could probably make room for Johnson if he told them he wanted to come but it feels like things are trending in Tennessee’s direction there.
