Florida has to go through Tennessee's Finet first and that will not happen, I don't care if they go and get Danny Wufferel and Steve Spurrier! Vols 2006 you heard it here first !

Dont get me wrong, I dont think Tennessee will have a bad year. I actually see them going 9-3, 10-2 at best. But I dont think that UT will be back in Atlanta this year. I think they will finish second to the gators in the east and earn a trip to the outback or capital one bowl. The one thing that gets me is the amount of media that are so hyped about Georgia this year. They have to the most overrated team in the SEC, IMHO.

Florida's schedule is rarely tougher than Tennessee's. Florida State helps their SOS, but 3 cupcakes even it out.

If people predict Florida to have a tough season with their schedule, I expect a reasonably even tough year for Tennessee.

And hatvol is my favorite nation member ... we think alike the majority of the time.

Yup, they are being hyped, but we don't know how good the players are that are filling holes. Tereshinksi or Stafford could be far better than Shockley, which isn't hard.

Thanks for the kind words. Be careful about who you say that to, else you'll be accused of negativity.

I would usually agree about UF's schedule, but this year, it's pretty tough...though the non conf. minus FSU is lacking...the conf. schedule is brutal.

@TN
KY
Bama
@LSU
@AUB
UGA

that 5/6 games is pretty tough row to hoe....i don't care who ya are...and they don't get an off week until week week 8. UGA doesn't get a bye unil week 11...LSU week 10...ours is in week 7, right in the middle, where it should be!!! And our schedule is tough, but the road games don't compare with UF's...@ UGA, @ ARK, @ USC....

It really is a crap shoot in the east this year. It is quite possible for Fla, GA, UT, or SC to have the same kind of season that UT had last year. It makes for exciting football, but it also makes me long for the days when the UT vs. Fla game determined the eastern championship.

i could see that....we all play each other, schedules are roughly the same, save UF"s, those road games are tough. but i think UF will beat UT, UGA and USC....they may lose one or even two of the games against western opponents, but that's it. I can see us losing to UF, LSU for sure...and UF would own tie breaker. I could see UGA losing to AUB, UT and UF, and USC could lose to all of us or beat us and UGA, but they won't beat UF in gainesville next year. I don't think UF will be a NT contender this year, but even with that schedule they should be the favorite to win the East. in the west, it's a toss up between Aub and LSU, with a careful eye on ARK.

and UF plays both Aub and LSU. so the SECCG is likely to be a rematch....

Early wins build confidence...early losses could be the beginning of another monumental slide.

Back to Oklahoma for a second... hatvol, can you really name anybody who is championship material? Texas' team was good, but they still got owned by USC all game, with the obvious exception of one Vince Young. Remove him from the equation, they are nothing more than good. Not great. Oklahoma hit a hell of a stride at the end of last season. You catch the Holiday bowl where they played Oregon? That wasn't Oregon coming in overrated, that was Oklahoma coming in very underrated. Rhett Bomar is finally getting a grip on things, the offensive line remains a group of big ol' corn-fed boys from the planes states. Defense remains good too, and don't forget Adrian Peterson.

USC is still on the national championship level, but with the new round-robin Pac-10 schedule, they lose at least one conference game. Texas is no longer on the level without Vince Young. Oklahoma will beat them in the Big XII South. Ohio State is there, and it's possible Miami or FSU will jump up out of the ACC to play for the national title. I don't see any teams in the SEC good enough all-around to contend for the national title.

Not to rip Milo, but I'm completely confident I watch OU more closely than you. Beating Oregon, with Leaf playing QB for them, in a meaningless bowl game doesn't do anything for me. OU didn't beat a single good team last year. Their offensive line is young and unproven. The defense will be good. Bomar still has a way to go. If they win in Eugene the third week of the season, I'll reconsider.

USC is in no way a National Championship contender. They have an inexperienced QB with a bad back and no backup. That doesn't even mention their still spotty defense and lack of a tailback. Texas will be just fine without Young. Their running backs have another year's experience and their defense will be stellar. Miami's defense is National Championship caliber. Their offense is iffy. Ohio State will be tremendous offensively, their young guys will have to carry the defense.

Maybe on Oklahoma. I just got a feeling about them.

As far as USC's defense... Their defense wasn't terrible, they played in the Pac-10 and got faced by Vince Young (not Texas, just Young) in the Rose Bowl. Granted it wasn't the stellar defense of 2004, but it was still very good considering.

How many points and yards did Fresno hang on them? That defense wasn't very good.

I agree with you on OU's talent, I just think they're a year away.

There's a difference between support and blind loyalty to an underachieving, overpaid, oleagenous head football coach.
