Back to Oklahoma for a second... hatvol, can you really name anybody who is championship material? Texas' team was good, but they still got owned by USC all game, with the obvious exception of one Vince Young. Remove him from the equation, they are nothing more than good. Not great. Oklahoma hit a hell of a stride at the end of last season. You catch the Holiday bowl where they played Oregon? That wasn't Oregon coming in overrated, that was Oklahoma coming in very underrated. Rhett Bomar is finally getting a grip on things, the offensive line remains a group of big ol' corn-fed boys from the planes states. Defense remains good too, and don't forget Adrian Peterson.

USC is still on the national championship level, but with the new round-robin Pac-10 schedule, they lose at least one conference game. Texas is no longer on the level without Vince Young. Oklahoma will beat them in the Big XII South. Ohio State is there, and it's possible Miami or FSU will jump up out of the ACC to play for the national title. I don't see any teams in the SEC good enough all-around to contend for the national title.
Milo, i agree with you about TX...VY made that team, though last year, the big 12 was enough of a joke that they could have gone undefeated w/out him, imo. and you are also correct about OK getting hot at the end, but are they really NT contenders this year? i don't know about that. TX will still be good this year, and the red river rivalry will probably go a long way in determining who wins the Big 12.

USC may have the talent to be considered NT worthy, but it's hard to replace the guys they lost, and the D will be suspect imo. the biggest losses though for them might be what the lost on the O line. Oregon might be the team to beat in the Pac 10 this year, who knows, you'd probably know better than i on that one.

OSU, i can see that, but the D is the ? mark there. in the SEC i agree with you, but on one condition, that's provided that UF, LSU or Auburn doesn't go undefeated. If any one of those three go undefeated, they could play for a NT this year. Problem is, i don't see any of them doing that this season.

Why, is Fulmer a poster here now? My right to speak the truth about him hasn't been truncated. Yet.
hm....sounds more like opinion to me....which of course is welcome, as always.

I like the way you think, bro.
Don't worry about some of the haters on here. I think the Big Orange is going to be focused and in a bad mood this season.

just throwing it out for those who said ohio state was too good on both sides of the ball, they lost 9 players on defense, and their leading reciever.

To those predicting Tennessee as NC and SEC champs ... how many seasons in a row have you done that?

Just because some of us don't think Tennessee is 14-0 caliber doesn't mean we don't support the university.

just because some people (including me) have more realistic expectations about what to expect this season doesn't mean we dont support the team. dont be a bammer and expect your going to win a national title every year especially when your team is coming off a losing season.

Of course the Red River Shootout will determine the Big XII. The entire Big XII North is a joke with the possible exception of Nebraska, and only Texas A&M and Texas Tech are decent outside of Texas and Oklahoma in the Big XII South.

The biggest problem I see USC having is with the Pac-10's new scheduling system. The Pac switched to a round-robin, so now every team has a 9-game conference schedule and will play every other team. There are weak teams, but none that you can really count out, a'la Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Duke, Baylor, etc. Pac-10 is tough weak in and weak out in that it's more true that you can't take a week off... At least I hold it more true than in any other conference. Plus all of the teams are good about making sure they get some tough non-conference teams on the schedule.

I think Ohio State's defense will be sufficient enough to be of national championship quality. And yeah, nobody is going undefeated in the SEC. Same as last season, you have a lot of really good teams who all have a couple glaring weaknesses.

I have as much loyalty as he does, even if I NEVER predict UT to win it all. Do you see why?

Ohio State will lose at least 2 games this year because of their defense. Watch Ted Ginn Jr. play after he has been hit..............

SEC Auburn over Florida

National Championship Oklahoma vs. Auburn

Auburn

Heisman Brady Quinn

Ginn doesn't get hit. Apparantley you didn't get the memo, he released his true identity. Ohio State has The Flash at wideout. Everybody is f***ed.

You do realize that predictions have NOTHING to do with loyalty. I'm an alum and I can't sleep Friday nights before games. I live and die with this team, and I want nothing more than for them to go undefeated, win the NC, and have a Vol win the Heisman.

However, I am also realistic and look at things very fairly. I don't think we can win all of our games, but I will be watching every play with my breath held, hoping with all my being that we win these games.

That being said, I reiterate that predicting Tennessee to go undefeated and winning a NC every year does not make another fan more loyal than anyone else.

2345, I love Tennessee as much as the next guy but are you smoking crack?!?!

I dont see why we can't win the NC, we have just as good of a shot as anyone else. Our Defense will probably be alittle BETTER then last year with the depth in the secondary. I have a feeling that the offense will finally jell. Imagine just how good foster is going to run this year. He is a year older, a year stronger, and a year more aware of his surroundings. 1,600 yards could be in reach if he gets the bulk of the carries and 2,000+ could be reachable for our running backs overall. Im just saying, don't take tennessee lightly.
