Milo, i agree with you about TX...VY made that team, though last year, the big 12 was enough of a joke that they could have gone undefeated w/out him, imo. and you are also correct about OK getting hot at the end, but are they really NT contenders this year? i don't know about that. TX will still be good this year, and the red river rivalry will probably go a long way in determining who wins the Big 12.(milohimself @ May 9 said:Back to Oklahoma for a second... hatvol, can you really name anybody who is championship material? Texas' team was good, but they still got owned by USC all game, with the obvious exception of one Vince Young. Remove him from the equation, they are nothing more than good. Not great. Oklahoma hit a hell of a stride at the end of last season. You catch the Holiday bowl where they played Oregon? That wasn't Oregon coming in overrated, that was Oklahoma coming in very underrated. Rhett Bomar is finally getting a grip on things, the offensive line remains a group of big ol' corn-fed boys from the planes states. Defense remains good too, and don't forget Adrian Peterson.
USC is still on the national championship level, but with the new round-robin Pac-10 schedule, they lose at least one conference game. Texas is no longer on the level without Vince Young. Oklahoma will beat them in the Big XII South. Ohio State is there, and it's possible Miami or FSU will jump up out of the ACC to play for the national title. I don't see any teams in the SEC good enough all-around to contend for the national title.
USC may have the talent to be considered NT worthy, but it's hard to replace the guys they lost, and the D will be suspect imo. the biggest losses though for them might be what the lost on the O line. Oregon might be the team to beat in the Pac 10 this year, who knows, you'd probably know better than i on that one.
OSU, i can see that, but the D is the ? mark there. in the SEC i agree with you, but on one condition, that's provided that UF, LSU or Auburn doesn't go undefeated. If any one of those three go undefeated, they could play for a NT this year. Problem is, i don't see any of them doing that this season.
