SEC Champs: Auburn

I dont see why we can't win the NC, we have just as good of a shot as anyone else. Our Defense will probably be alittle BETTER then last year with the depth in the secondary. I have a feeling that the offense will finally jell. Imagine just how good foster is going to run this year. He is a year older, a year stronger, and a year more aware of his surroundings. 1,600 yards could be in reach if he gets the bulk of the carries and 2,000+ could be reachable for our running backs overall. Im just saying, don't take tennessee lightly.

I never, ever like to rule anything out. Heck, I do believe we can win 10 games this season, with a maximum possible 14 games on the schedule. But national championship quality? I did some research, only five national championship teams in the history of college football (out of an estimated 189 national championship teams) have ever won the big one after coming off a losing season. They are as follows:

1922 Illinois (1923 National Champions) 2-5
1939 Minnesota (1940 National Champions) 3-4-1
1959 Minnesota (1960 National Champions) 2-7
1961 Southern California (1962 National Champions) 4-5-1
1964 Michigan State (1965 National Champions) 4-5

Not to mention this team we have is just flat-out not at that level. Anybody, save the 30 or so worst teams in D-IA can come out of nowhere and put together a great season. I'd love to see us win the big one, but the odds of that happening coming off a losing season are very VERY slim. It's been a long time since that's happened.
