3-2

The whole infield is on fire right now and Zambrano pitched a little bit better. He still needs to quit serving up big flys and have breakdown innings. Get to see Wade Miller tomorrow.

Nice, 3-4. Our pen is sucking and Soriano needs to step it up if he's going to lead off. Lee and Aram are still hot though.

I've never understood why a guy with that much power bats leadoff. Is it just because of his speed or what?

Well, it's probably because the Cubs have no other option to lead off. Who would you put over Soriano at 1 in this list:
Lee
DeRosa
Izturis
Ramirez
Barrett
Murton
Floyd
Jones

Izturis has the speed but not the OBP.

It's not just the Cubs, he also led off for the Nationals. I don't remember where he hit for the Rangers. Just seems like you'd want power like that down in the order, no matter what team he was playing for.

His OBP is awful for a player with his speed. He also has toed the Mendoza Line for many years in his career.

Well, not many I checked it again. About 4 seasons he had a sub .250 Average, and only 3 season with a OBP higher than 300, and when they were higher than 300 it was by a hair.

Soriano would be better suited at the 2 or 5 in this lineup. It sure is a shame that we let Pierre go instead of trading Jones. This lineup would have crushed:
1. Pierre
2. Soriano
3. Lee
4. Aram
5. Barrett
6. DeRosa
7. Murton
8. Izturis

Would have been nice if Chicago could have snatched up Kenny Lofton. Problems solved, also Soriano could have been in left leaving Lofton (an experienced CF) to roam the windy outfield of Wrigley.

The last time the Cubs had Lofton in center, they were 5 outs away from a pennant.

Pretty embarrassing. 3 pitchers combine for 13 Ks and only 2 hits and 1 run and we can't manage to push in one run. The crap in the 6th inning was the peak. How do you get runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs and the heart of your lineup up and not get at least one run?
