2008 Basketball Commitment List

Jurick only had about 6-8 points against a really small team tonight. I think Ooltewah's tallest starter was about 6'3. East Ridge, the team he plays for, just flat out sucks. They got blown out by a below average team 65-32 or something.

Their PGs are horrible and they don't know how to get him the ball down low. He did block nearly everything inside though. He probably had 9-12 blocks which is why we signed him. I wouldn't look for him to put up even halfway decent offensive numbers this year.. even though he had 18 in the opener.

You could tell Jurick was getting frustrated and mad he didn't get the ball. He went over to the coach and you could tell he was getting pissed.. at that point he was just uninvolved and kinda didn't care. He had the right to be frustrated though - he was clearly their only weapon but their ball hogs just put up 3s all day. It was hard to watch haha.

What is wrong with Tennessee's recruiting class this year? 31st according to Rivals???? If Phil Fulmer is such a great recruiter, what's going on?

Also, everybody blamed our 2005 recruiting class on the poor performance that season. If so, how in the world does ND curently have the number one recruiting class???? As far as the SEC goes, we are behind Georgia, Bama, LSU, Auburn, UF, Arkansas, and Ole Miss????

I know this is only about paper victories, but still, why are we not even in the top half of our league?

This is a basketball thread. There is a separate thread about football. That said, I think the uncertainty surrounding Fulmer's future at UT has to hurt recruiting to some degree. Welcome to the board, and please take all replies to the neighboring thread.

This is a basketball recruiting board, but i wouldn't worry about the class this year. Fulmer always signs most of players in December through Signing Day. This class isn't going to have many stars in it, because we got all of our skill players last year. We lack depth on the O-Line and D-Line so we will sign mostly lineman. If Tennessee signs Antione McClain, Lawrence Guy, and Leon Mackey then this will be a very good class.

We don't have many schollys to give out and we need depth on the lines, so yes it would be a very good class if we signed those players and maybe Greg Scruggs.

Why would he go to duke.. so he can get buried by tons of other 5 stars on the depth chart..
when he could go to UT and possibly start right away!

Because the guy has like a 4.0 GPA, I'm pretty sure. Academics are really high for him.. he's always liked Duke from the start - atleast from the beginning of his sophomore year I've heard.

HV, Do we have a list of interested prospects for the '08 Class that we realistically have a chance at landing?

yeah, i was about to mention that.. any big names potentially coming to play for Pearl?

HV, do you have any info on scotty hopson? I saw on rivals he has us listed as high interest along with a couple other schools. Any chance we can land this kid?

There's two threads on the guy. The answer is yes and we have the best chance at landing him.

Better off asking cotton or someone anyway. I think HV's specialty is mainly in football. Cotton has connections to that area I believe.

So how is UT and Leslie McDonald looking these days??..
i havent heard much about him lately

You guys should quit wasting your time going after Memphis players... They won't commit to Eew Tea because they're being recruited by schools that are a lot better than you guys are. It's making your commit list look pretty slim.

Well, you did get PJ, I guess that counts for something. :post-4-1090547912:

Who was the last player from Memphis who went to Memphis.... Don't say Willie Kemp because we got Wayne Chism from Bolivar.... Andre Allen is the last to go to Memphis from Memphis. He is a senior. Everyone else on your team is pretty much from a prep school... (Patterson School or Laurinburg Prep, with the exception of CDR and Rose.... Sounds like Memphis prep players are smart and getting out of there and going elsewhere..

Memphis preps have started to take notice of Tennessee and we are in great shape with Joe Jackson and Leslie McDonald.

From the looks of things point guard should be number one on our list. Were losing a ton of offense from the other guard positions. Were going to miss lofton, jajuan too, but sometimes his a liability with the erratic shots he takes.

From what I hear, Daniel West (our PG commit ) might be very good next year. He is a TRUE PG!!! Yes, oh how I have longed for one since CJ.. I actually think our PG play improves next year as well as our 4 and 5 spots. If we get Hopson, overall I think we COULD be better. JMO.

However, Losing Lofton and JJ will be tough. Someone will have to provide outside shooting from the guard spot. Who will it be?

Tabb? (can hit the shot, but how consistently)
Hopson ( if he comes)??
Tatum- ( is supposedly a good shooter)?
West- (supposedly has good stroke)?

Also, I think a couple players will be better shooters next year. JP most notably.

i believe the overall quantitative and qualitative depth of our roster will be better than what we have this year if we land hopson...

This year
Ramar
Jajuan
Chris
Tyler
Wayne
Duke
JP
Brian
Tabb
Howell

Next Year
Ramar
Tyler
JP
Duke
Wayne
Jurick
Woolridge
Hopson
West
Williams
Tabb
Tatum
Childress? some games

If everyone else around the nation think we're ridiculously deep and talented this year then we have a nice surprise for them next year...

P.S. - No seniors on next year's roster (except Childress) so add in Kenny Hall, maybe Mcdonald and whoever else and we are looking at possibly 10 guys on our 2009-2010 roster that would start for anybody in the country
