2008 Titans

Well, I guess to no Titans fan's surprise, Yahoo Sports has already written us off for the playoffs.

I think most of us Titan fans are kind of used to this by now. We always get pooped on by the national sports media. And what usually happens? We get into the playoffs.

Now granted, I don't think another start to the year like 2008 is going to happen this year, but we should be back into the playoffs this year.

2. Tennessee Titans

Last year, the Titans' season started with a thud. Sure, they beat the Jaguars. But quarterback Vince Young suffered a sprained knee and a fractured ego.

Enter Kerry Collins, who did just enough to complement a great defense and a strong running game to propel the Titans to the best regular-season record in the league.

This year, however, the guy who made that defense go—defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth—is long gone.

And Kerry Collins is still the starter.

And the receivers really aren't all that much better.

And defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is coaching the Lions.

And the up-and-down Jaguars are due to be up again.

And the Texans seem poised to finally make the playoffs.

Odd men out? Yep, the Titans.

All I had to read was the part about the Jags being "up" again to realize they don't have a clue of what they're talking about.

The sports writer at Yahoo must be on vacation and the Paris Hilton gossip staff is covering them for the week.

Yahoo should stick to what they do best which is playing second fiddle to Google as a search engine.

I can't think of too many.

I probably should just ignore it but it makes me mad to think that someone is getting paid to come up with this stuff. Jim Schwartz is a good coach and I think he will help the Lions but Chuck Cecil isn't going to change the system the Titans run on defense. The Jags suck and Houston didn't improve that much to pass the Titans. I believe the receivers are that much better. Nate Washington is much better than Brandon Jones, Levelle Hawkins has a year behind him now and Kenny Britt should be good enough to make some difference.
