Aside from blowing how many saves?
They did have issues closing from time to time, but they were still about league average for blown saves despite a couple of middle inning guys coughing up leads regularly early in the year. They blew 21 while the league leader was at 12, so I don't think it was really a glaring issue the way it has been a few times in the past. They definitely weren't running Mariano Rivera out there . . . but they also weren't subjecting themselves to Farnsworth, Reitsma, Wickman Kolb etc.

Then maybe it was blowing saves at the worst possible times (ie in the last 2 months) but it was certainly disheartening to see when Hanson would throw 7 great innings and then Soriano would give up a huge HR

I know what you mean. It still blows my mind that Mike Gonzalez finished the year with an ERA under 3.00

NL Manager of the Year: Rockies MGR Jim Tracy

UPDATE: The end result is the brass gave him a three year contract that runs through 2012.

Scioscia wins for the AL.

I don't think he did such an outstanding job this year. I'm not too keen on the mancrush everyone has on him either. I mean how hard has it been to win the AL West recently?

Thanks for the reporting.:good!:

I heard that it was the way he led his team through adversity, especially during the early part of the season where that young pitcher died in a car accident.

Lincecum wins NL Cy over Carpenter. Wainwright had the most first place votes and finished third.

I still cringe thinking about Adam Wainwright getting traded for JD Drew.

If Carpenter did not get hurt this season, it probably would have been a different story.

Who thinks the Braves will go after Jermaine Dye, someone who they breaded at the farms.

I don't think they go that route. He's a little too old to be the bat the Braves rely on.

Talking about Dye, there is an article discussing about him playing 1st base to extend his career.
Dye open to shifting to first base | MLB.com: News
That would make even less sense to me since the Braves have Freddy Freeman supposedly waiting in the wings for 2011. Maybe the Braves could bring him in at a low enough price tag for it to make sense, but to me he looks like Garrett Anderson with a little more pop and lower Avg.

Well, looks like Omar Vizquel still has a little in him so he decides to play for the White Sox.
