Soriano took the arbitration. What a bullpen the Braves have. Wren made it clear that Gonzo and Soriano were going to be traded or be middle relief.

I didnt have time to pay attention yesterday...good night. Well, that's definitely a problem we havent experienced too often lately. Hopefully we'll still have the flexibility to get a big bopper to add to the lineup

Pitcher Brad Penny to the Cards. If he maintains his Giants form, then he will be one heck of an addition.

7. Soriano

8. Saito

9. Wagner

A potentially solid 1-2-3 punch.

Just heard on the "Winter Meetings" edition of Baseball tonight, Karl Ravech said that Peter Gammons is leaving ESPN.

He was live on air and was very gracious saying something like, "ESPN has done alot more for Peter Gammons, than Peter Gammons has ever done for ESPN."

I really enjoy that team and am sad to see him go...I havent looked yet but is he going to the MLB Network?? Back with Harold Reynolds maybe??

What have you all heard?

Yes . . . He has confirmed that he is joining MLB Network. I love that channel.

The baseball GOD to the MLB Network. Something that VERSUS failed to do with the hockey GOD, Barry Melrose; especially after his short stint in Tampa Bay.

I love MLB channel also. Cant wait too have him on the team. I thought he might be scaling back some. Glad to have him around, hopefully for years to come.

With the announcement of the three-way blockbuster involving OF Curtis Granderson and SP Edwin Jackson, there were other transactions that took place today:

-The Nationals gave catcher Jesus Flores a mentor in the form of Pudge, who will be a backup.

-Figgins, Penny are officially with new teams

RUMORS

-Godzilla from one big city to another big city

-Uggla switching leagues but not divisions?

-The Yankees taking a risk flyer on a pitcher who did not pitch last season

-Jason Bay going home is not a sure thing

I'm not seeing the allure of Granderson, he's a nice player but his BA has free falled over the last 3/4 years if i'm not mistaken... Dangerous if they can get his issue at the plate figured out though.

His AVG took a dip this year, but nothing suggests that he can't pull it up next year in the Bronx. Left-handed leadoff men with serious 20 HR/ 20SB potential don't grow on trees...I wanted him REALLY bad in Atlanta, but not at the expense of our farm system.

Great deal for the Yanks for the here and now and for the Tigers who got some immediate SPs and some payroll relief.

That lefty power bat and the short RF porch of Yankee Stadium is a match made in heaven.

In the last day, the blockbuster deal was approved and those deals above took place. In addition, the Astros picked up a reliever and potential new closer in Matt Lindstrom from the Marlins.Rich Harden is Texas bound. Andy Pettite gets to play in pinstripes for one more season. The big names did not move but there were inquiries going around. So that is a wrap in Indy but the offseason rolls on with rumblings of the BoSox wanting to trade 3B Mike Lowell and eyeing Adrian Beltre, the Brew Crew looking at more relief work in Mike Gonzalez or Kevin Gregg and the Braves looking to dump Rafael Soriano to the Astros.

I'm afraid my Dodgers are in deep trouble. Frank McCourt isn't spending any money due the divorce and he will probably set them back 10 years before it is all over.

I hope this somehow ends with McCourt selling the team but that is not likely. The fact that they let Randy Wolf go when starting pitching is a big need tells me all I need to know about next season.

They have inquired about Roy Halladay but it is the crosstown Angels that are among the contenders.
