Adrian Gonzalez has flown to Boston & will be taking a physical today, only thing holding the trade from being complete at this point is Gonzalez passing the phyiscal & the Sox agreeing to a contract extension.

Gonzalez has passed his physical & the trade is basically complete. The Sox will trade Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo, Rey Fuentes, & a player to be named later for Adrian Gonzalez. The only thing that needs to be worked out is the contract extension, Gonzalez is looking for something in the 5-6 yrs for 110-125 mill.

Also, Theo is in talks with Carl Crawford. The Boston media believes that if Theo cant land Crawford he would put all his efforts into getting Jayson Worth.

& the Sox are needing 2 arms in the bullpen. The obvious names would be Downs & Fuentes. Dont be surprised if the Sox trade Dice-K, they would have to eat some of his salary. Rotation is already set 1-4 with Lester, Bucholz, Beckett, & Lackey. I'd expect Wakefield to move into that 5th spot.

Under the deal, Jeter will make $51MM across the first three seasons with a $8MM player option for the fourth year. The shortstop can also earn $9MM in incentives for the fourth year but if he earns no incentives while picking up the option, he's guaranteed at least $56MM.

Adrian Gonzalez has passed his physical with the Red Sox & they now have until tomorrow at 2pm to get a deal done for Gonzalez for the trade to go through.

Barring injuries, Longo is going to have a much better career, defensively as well. Let's be honest here though, we are just having a homer contest at this point...

Basis for this...?

Zimmerman is hands down the best defensive 3B in the league, by the way.

They're incredibly similar, and both incredibly filthy. I love watching them both. No point in having the argument. Just no basis to say Longoria is in some other world as a 3B, as so many people do.

That's a surprise, I'd think that this would take the Sox out of the Crawford running, with the market being set at 6 or7 years.

Carl Crawford will get minimum 7 yrs now. I'll be shocked if it isn't 8. His contract just got huge. I imagine the Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, whoever else are furious about this.

As a Braves fan, I hate seeing Werth stay in the East. Nats have somethin goin on over there..loaded farm system.

Thank you :) I'm wondering if we'll go after D Lee or C Pena at first base, or just let Marrero come up and take over if Morse struggles.

Zimmerman, Pena (if he's hot) and Werth would be a nice 3-4-5... bernadina/desmond 1-2

I like the possibilities of Marrero, Derek Norris and Ramos. We'll see how it goes.

This move is a shock

The Nats cut their own throat for a streaky hitter who has seemingly seen his best days...7/126 million is crazy money for an above average player.

At this rate, Crawford will get 8/200 million.

I don't know that he's over the hill yet, but he doesn't merit that deal. Gritty white guy with a beard and a deecent stick contract. He's not a centerpiece player for sure, and that is a centerpiece contract.

I just can't believe that anybody else was really offering more than about 5 years and $75 million.

Just heard Tim Kurkijan say there was another team offering roughly 6 yrs/$100 million and the Nationals basically panicked.

Shaun Marcum is a sneaky good little move, though I dunno if it will make a difference.

Adam Dumb has been put on this planet to torture me. The Reds, after far too long, joined reality and got rid of his overrated, get hit in the face with a flyball ass and I assumed I'd never be subjected to that idiot again. Suddenly, Kenny Williams loses his damn mind and now my boy Ozzie has to put up with that lazy, loser piece of garbage. I can't wait to hear Steve Stone after he shows the baserunning instincts of a hedgehog.

In this day and age of non-steriod use ( or reduced I should say ) a guy who can hit 40 HR's is rare, thus making it overvalued.

I agree that Dunn is a shoddy fielder and baserunner, the only thing he has is power, but 40 HR's and about 100 RBI aren't easy to pass on, especially when he can now DH.

Where do they suppose Johnny Damon is going to land?

Anywhere that will take him...seems Tampa is a possible destination.

Boston to New York to Detroit to Tampa....next year he will play in Pittsburgh, it is the natural progression it seems.
